My wife and I had a very good meal their last night . We each had fifferent appetizers and different entrees and all were excellent. We shared dessert and it was also excellent. What User doesn't like about Dows Lake Pavilion:
This is a great man-made lake if you enjoy being on the water. You can rent canoes and kayaks. The two eatery's did not appeal to us and we were not inspired to go inside and check out the menus. View all feedback.
The pavilion is an excellent viewing spot to sit and relax whilst watching the people on the lake having loads of fun on the kayaks and pedaloes.
Difficult to separate the lake and pavilion front the display of tulips which is near-by on shore in what appears to be a park. I walked to the pavilion one or twice for exercise and to find what was going on there. It is a place where people can eat and talk and admire the water as well ascent a boat. I watched many people row their way from the pavilion. I did photograph a few scenes of my family. I found the display of tulips to be magnificent and beautiful. The food at the pavilion did not bring me back for any second helping as I was not not there for eating food. It was routine food and nothing for sending post cards home - nutritionally not spectacular. A good reason to brown bag it and supply your own food. Prices for the food there were high. I would rather spend money for renting a boat. A good view of the lake for sure. A good meeting place. Good place for lunch with a colleague. Parking can be and usually is expensive.Getting validated wit a parking stamp your ticket is a ritual that I would avoid. We did walk there for along distance to save such expenses. Walk along the canal and go to the lake for a long hike around the lake and maybe to the canal's origins. The tulips will bring me me back in the future. I would not return for another helping of the food they serve there as that pavilion is not my kind of place for eating. I watched people getting served food and the environment seemed to be conducive for eating a meal. But I was not there for sampling the menu. So I can not answer some of these questions. I did brown bag it for my lunch. I was more interested in watching the people at the lake and and at the tulip display.
The pavillion is a great place to stop if you've been walking the canal for a while. The restaurants are reasonable and licenced. You can also rent a canoe or kayak if you want to go on Dows Lake or the canal. It is also close to the locks and a nice shady park.
Really a shame that such a great location does not offer anything else than outdated restaurants serving overpriced food/drinks... A good spot to have drinks and enjoy the view, but the entire building would need to be shut down for a while to allow for serious, major renovations.

However we would recommend taking a sweater just in case.
