Taquerio - MYSTIC
Taquerio
Description
Taquerio presents a vibrant dining experience that merges fun ambience with a diverse menu. While it offers a limited selection of vegan options, including fried plantain tacos, some dishes may not fully meet dietary expectations. Patrons rave about the traditional watermelon margaritas, delicious tacos—including the Al Pastor and fried avocado—and flavorful salsa that elevate the overall enjoyment.
Despite occasional slow service and minor issues with online ordering, diners appreciate the cozy atmosphere of the converted gas station and the attentive staff. For those seeking delicious tacos in a lively setting, Taquerio is a worthy culinary destination.

This review is long overdue. We dined here over a year ago on a couple of occasions since our rental was located in the nearby waterfront neighborhood. From our first impressions, the place was clean and organized, with a pleasant atmosphere fostered by both the decor and the staff. We were greeted immediately and offered service right away. We ended up sitting outside, where we were very well taken care of. I can’t remember the name of the young man who served us, but he mentioned he was interested in a career in forestry or national parks; he was really nice and provided perfect service, especially for our 4-year-old. We also ordered some margaritas to-go, and Jake assisted us with that. He was very helpful in going over the options and answered general questions we had about the restaurant, the space, and the owners. On our next visit, he spent some time at our table to ensure we had an equally great experience. And yes, the food was fantastic too! Overall, they did an amazing job. As a former restaurant owner and a lifelong industry veteran, I can honestly say there was nothing more we could have asked for. I apologize for taking so long to write this review! I hope to visit again soon.
Food Drinks were great, We will be back. Our server was a little off, probably just a bad day.
Great stop for lunch. Delicious fresh-tasting margaritas (I had the spicy, husband had the House) served on the rocks in a tall glass. Loved the tacos--just the right size, so you can try several. Between the two of us we had the barbacoa, chicken, gringo and carnitas. All were excellent. Good combination of braised meats topped with a variety of fresh ingredients on a dense corn tortilla. Chips (served warm) and salsa were great. Cool industrial/classic gas station vibe and friendly staff made for a very enjoyable stop after visiting downtown Mystic.
Two stars for ambience. To be fair I was born in Mexico and I understand the flavors will never be the same. This place was highly recommended but once again a dirty excuse of a Mexican themed restaurant to overcharge for food that isn 't even close to what they say it is. I had the swordfish and Al pastor. Very disappointing, the size for the price and kids quesadilla for 7 dollars!, regular size tortillas is just highway robbery. Honestly do the drive to New Haven or I might even say Yoko Lolo has way better tasting food. For the price and the flavors , Yoko Lolo is definitely better.
