Subway - Murphy
Subway
Description
This neighborhood sandwich and pizza spot delivers fresh ingredients, quick service and a clean atmosphere, with favorites like tuna and chicken bacon ranch and a variety of pizza toppings. Evenings are calmer and turnover is fast. However, inconsistent staffing, occasional early closures and troubling food-safety lapses — cold meat, improper hot-holding and blunt service — undermine reliability. The menu and speed are appealing, but the restaurant must improve service consistency and safety practices to be fully dependable.

I appreciated the range of pizza toppings and sizes on offer, and the food was served quickly. I was surprised to find that the restaurant wasn't busy during our visit.
I am reducing my rating from 5 stars to 2 stars. This is primarily due to the fact that the restaurant is understaffed, while other establishments in similar situations manage to remain open until their closing times. If you intend to close earlier than the 9 PM listed on your website, please update your hours to reflect that.
Absolutely disappointing. Every vegetable topping was browned and slimy, and the staff was quite rude as well.
Service was terrible. The staff didn’t even greet us with a simple “hi” or “how can I help you?” Instead, we were immediately asked, “What do you want?” The food was even worse. They kept the meatballs cold and tried to warm them using the toaster. As a result, the meatballs on my sandwich were still nearly frozen in the center. When I returned it, the employee was going to reheat the food I had already touched with my hands, potentially spreading germs on the counter where other customers' food is prepared. Disgusting! Plus, the bread would have burned by the time the meatballs were heated properly. When I requested a refund, I wasn’t given the correct amount. I asked if the meatballs were supposed to be kept in a hot hold, and the staff said they didn’t have one. I pointed to a hot hold unit they were using for storage—filled with bowls and other items. Without proper temperature control (below 40°F or above 160°F), the meatballs risk growing bacteria and causing foodborne illnesses. I know this because I’ve managed several restaurants. It’s unacceptable to serve unsafe food simply because they don’t have the right equipment. If they can’t maintain food safety, they shouldn’t be selling meatball subs. Why is it so hard for small establishments like this to take food safety seriously? This is the third Subway I’ve visited in the area, and they’ve all been disappointing.
