Food is delicious! Especially the portion size perfect after being out on the mountain all day. The team works very hard but still with smiles on their face great customer service. Cocktails are a must try too, especially the special margaritas View all feedback.
What Kayley Gutkowski doesn't like about Birdcage:
Ordered a Pork Banh Mi and there’s a long hair on top of the food tangled in the cilantro (definitely not mine). They replaced it after a few minutes but there’s no any complimentary, either a free drink or a cookie for the inconvenience. It’s a bad experience for a first time diner. According to the manager, the complimentary is that they replaced the food. View all feedback.
I had a terrible experience with a waitress that was clearly prestressed by the color of our skin. She chose a Caucasian snake jumper and insulted me from my children. Many experience, goes against everything I know, Australia stands for.
In low season for a morning coffee. Friendly staff and had a great BLT and coffee. The service was first class
Visited twice on our trip! The coffee was really good! Margarita this night not the best I ever had (sees a little light on the Tequila) but still had a great atmosphere!
After our 3-hour drive with children we came to a mostly empty restaurant, just to find that they don't have a children's menu, and a menu without child-friendly options, but luckily the breakfast menu had eggs. After ordering drinks, in a restaurant with only two other sets of customers, they told us that they could not do eggs for children... The staff could not help less. so we went with hungry weeping children. Contrast this with a few meters down at the Abom, where we were still crying with the children, and they bent back to help.
The next day when we woke up, we had a good and hearty breakfast (part of the package) in our hotel before proceeding to ski for the record, we arrived too early before the snow started to fall so we didn't really get to enjoy the skiing facility to the fullest. The management was using machine to create artificial snow for the holiday goers to ski but we didn't ski because our kids were still too young, so we just went into the area to play with the aritificial snow. Had a great time nonetheless and before we knew it, everyone was famished so we had lunch at the one only Mount Buller Fish Chippery.. the fish chip was most expensive one I had while in Melbourne but we'd no choice because they were the only place around serving this dish and they are located in the heart of Mount Buller. But this post is not on the fish chips but on the coffee session after that. We walked around and saw this Birdcage Café the coffee craving kicked in so we just walked in. Initially wanted to drink only coffee, we ended up buying 2 large cookies as well for the small ones when they said hungry... Cold weather really made them feeling hungry fast. It was very cosy inside considering that it was cold and foggy outside... Love the usage of logs and timber to mix with the dark contemporary interiors of the cafe. FYI, this cafe is located inside Mt Buller Chalet Hotel Suites. After satisfying the caffeine addiction, the once again energetic kids dragged us for another 2 hours of playing with the snow which drained most of our energies in the end. The end!
