New owners are very friendly and cook a really nice meal. Great lunch specials that include chicken and corn soup and a meal with rice. Meal was very tasty and plentiful. Definitely going back. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Mr. Ho Chinese Restaurant:
First & last time customer!! Steer clear of the satay chicken it was disgusting all you can taste is the onion not the satay. The fried rice is more like boiled rice very sticky & tasteless View all feedback.
All the food is very tasty, very delicious indeed! Buzzing atmosphere, great for a night out in the city
Another very impressive Merivale venue and is well deserving of all the hype and feedback it receives! The cocktails are absolutely stunning and so easy to drink (especially the blue one)! The dumplings and dim sum are delectable and I still dream about the Peking duck pancakes they way they melt in your mouth is a one in a lifetime experience that everyone needs in their life. Would highly recommend for any special occasion and for all age groups as there is bound to be something on the menu for everyone. Love Mr Wong and Dan Hong!
There is probably not a great deal I can write about Mr Wong that hasn 't already been written. The building is huge, always busy, always buzzing, classy interior and beautiful looking (and tasting) food. Yes it is expensive, but within the vicinity of the CBD and looking at restaurants with similar price points, there is a reason why people (myself included) return. The dim sim platter looks beautiful. With appropriate condiments they also taste great. The Peking Duck is probably a relatively weaker dish on the menu (relative to the other dishes, not a 'weak ' dish per se), and the wonton soup is a very tasty starter. However, the signature dish which alone is worth coming to Mr Wong for is the sweet and sour crispy pork hock. The name does not do this justice, and nothing can prepare you for the giant cube of pork that comes out in front of you which can be sliced and diced with a spoon before your eyes so tender, with an almost melt worthy quality. I 'll return (again) and yes, when I do, I 'll be ordering the sweet and sour crispy pork hock.
Mr Wongs is an amazingly cool restaurant. The venue itself was an old printing house, it had beautiful stone walls, high ceilings, two levels, it epic!! The service is always spot on, the staff are very knowledgable and always know the answer to any questions. The sommeliers are all helpful and incredibly good th recommendations. The food is good, it has amounts of MSG so is very rich but also very tasty. The overall experience and vibe is always amazing here.
Go to washendfoodescapes for full blog review including photos. I had luck enjoying a group dinner at mr wong. my work colleague often talks about being a regular diner at herrn wong and that my expectations have risen slightly. I look forward to the upscale Chinese banquet and the good business in this special night.
