#4 - Vegetarian - Moray, Steak, Garden Center In Fochabers, Scotland

Reviews summary

Nestled within a charming garden center, this restaurant has drawn mixed reactions from patrons. While some visitors rave about the delightful atmosphere, friendly service, and excellent cakes, others lament disappointing meals, ranging from tasteless toasties to lackluster breakfasts. The inconsistency in food quality, such as weak coffee and poorly cooked bacon, has caused frustration for some diners. However, those who have enjoyed the high tea or freshly made paninis praise the flavors and presentation. Overall, this establishment offers potential, but guests hope for a more reliable dining experience in the future.

My sister and I had lunch here today. The place was busy but the staff were friendly and efficient. We both had the macaroni cheese and chips and it was delicious. It was served to us quickly. No complaints.

Hadn't visited for a while and to be honest the food was definitely of a lower quality than the last time we visited We both had toasties with a side order of chips and it was quite tasteless and the chips were the skinny type that don't taste great and get cold really quickly and my cherry scone had chopped cherries on the outside but there seemed to be none inside Always enjoyed a trip to Christies hope that this experience was just a one off

Quality of food has gone down hill, they used to do lovely chips, not anymore, tried the chicken and mushroom pie today, chicken and mushrooms were floating in a watery sauce, couldn’t even call it a sauce, and was tasteless, we use to enjoy a lunch time meal here, not anymore.

First visit and won’t be the last. Toastie and Panini were excellent with just enough salad on the side. Cakes were also superb. Tables were spotless and staff very efficient.

Deep fried bacon swimming in oil that goodness knows when it was originally cooked shattered when you put your knife and fork near it. Sausages must have been the cheapest sausages known to man. Really bad I've had a lot of cafe breakfasts on my travels over the years, but this was by far the worst ever. Disgusting.

I understand that many people are watching their diets, but the portion we got with the baked potato was insufficient—it hardly filled half of it. The wait for our food was excessively long, and we didn't even receive an apology for the delay. To make things worse, a table that came in after us received their meals more quickly and were given complimentary drinks.

This restaurant is outstanding and quite spacious, offering high-quality meals in a pleasant dining atmosphere. The gift shop has a wide variety of items, and just last week, after years of searching, I finally found the perfect mugs I was looking for. They do have a dressing area, but since I don’t usually use it, I can’t comment on what they have. There’s a large section outside, but still under cover, dedicated to garden supplies, and I must say it looks fantastic. Additionally, there’s a spacious and safe play area for children, which is a great perk for families. While there is an entrance fee for this area, many families spend the whole day here, and since they can bring their own food, it’s a reasonable fee that adds to the experience. Although the sections for garden plants may have decreased slightly, probably due to the expansion of the play area, the plants themselves look healthy and vibrant. Overall, it’s a wonderful place for a leisurely stroll, with a good chance of finding something you’d like to take home by the end of your visit. Prices may be a bit higher than average for the area, but the quality of everything offered is clear, and the choice to purchase is entirely yours. Parking is convenient, with plenty of space available near the main entrance, making your visit safe and easy. Finally, all the staff are exceptionally friendly and courteous, always ready to help with any questions or advice you might need. It’s definitely worth the trip!

This is a fantastic place to visit with kids! My 3-year-old absolutely loves it and can happily stay entertained for hours. The jumping attractions are a lot of fun, and there’s an impressive selection of birds, including a massive owl that you have to see to believe. I highly recommend taking the kids there when you’re looking for something fun to do together.

I visited the christie’s garden centre in november and they were already hired for christians. the Christmas items at the entrance provide a warm welcome in the center. This garden centre has a huge retail area that sells everything they can think. at the time of visit we wore masks inside and it was not too busy for a Saturday.

The plants were stunning and in excellent condition. They offered an impressive variety of plants and accessories. We purchased some specialized compost and a few plants, and everything was fantastic. I highly recommend visiting if you're looking for plants!

Great place. Excellent, friendly staff. Often go for a light lunch and a browse through the retail departments. Food is first class. Also many cakes too good to resist
