We both t... read more This was our first time dining here and it definitely won't be our last! The atmosphere was lovely and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. We both tried the Cullen Skink as a starter (which was superb), and for our main courses, my wife had the traditional steak and ale pie, which was full of succulent meat. I opted for the mixed grill, which was also excellent. The only small criticism I have is that I wasn't asked how I wanted my steak cooked, and I prefer mine medium rare. I did request it to be cooked medium rare to the waitress, but ultimately it is up to the chef to decide. Despite the steak being a bit dry, overall our experience was very good.

The room is cold and old fashioned but the worst thing about this place and the reason we will never return is the staff. No polite interaction a young man removed desert plates without even making eye contact smiling or speaking one word. When paying this same young man had to get help as he made a mistake. The rude older lady wasn't even going to give us the void slip and offered no apology for mistake. Even though we paid correct amount I felt we were to blame for their inaficiency. Not a place I would recommend due to staff.
