Forsyths Deli

4.0 / 5 (51 reviews)

Description

The deli in the small seaside town was a great addition, but with new struggling owners, it is no longer open. Reviews of the restaurant highlighted disappointing service, limited food options, and issues with hygiene. However, some guests enjoyed the Cullen Skink and lunch options. Despite mixed reviews, the deli offers a variety of freshly prepared snacks and local produce at reasonable prices. While the Cullen Skink received some criticism, the atmosphere and selection of goodies for sale were praised. Overall, the deli seems like a hit-or-miss option for a quick lunch in Cullen.

This deli, with a few indoor and outdoor tables, was a great addition to the small seaside town. However, it appears that new owners are struggling as it is no longer open.

After reading the reviews, we decided to have a "5-star lunch" on a day with 24-degree temperatures along the Moray Coast, following several unsuccessful attempts to eat in Cullen after 2 pm. However, the service was terrible, with a limited food choice as they had run out of many menu options, including baguettes with stale lettuce and flavorless cheese. To top it off, the cold drinks fridge was broken. We had to wait so long for our food that the water and coke we had ordered were nearly boiling. Overall, it was not a good choice and is best avoided.

Came to Cullen for family coastal walk stumbled across this deli for lunch-time stop. Just what we wanted interesting surroundings. Impressed with the choice of food on offer even though it was in the lull period between Christmas and Hogmanay. We had Cullen Skink (bit watery), burger, club sandwich smoked salmon baguette. Good portion size, quality produce. Would recommend this place, some very interesting platters and salads on offer!

The usual experience at this restaurant is okay, but today was disappointing. The tables were dirty and the bread was dry. The boiled egg was soft with bits of shell and rubbery membrane still attached. I observed the staff not washing their hands between handling money and preparing the food. Sorry Forsyths, you did not meet your usual standard today. It will be a while before I dine here again. The coffee was good though, despite the wait.

Went here for lunch with kids and family. Lovely menu of platters, sandwiches and salads. Local produce, pies, cakes, pastries and shop selling jams, teas, nice things. Fabulous bread from local bakery used to make sandwiches. Cullen skink here is gorgeous.
