Contribute FeedbackBoogie Woogie, a charming cafe that has been a favorite for many visitors, is now receiving mixed reviews. While the food and service are generally good, there have been complaints about the lack of warmth in the ambiance, unwelcoming staff, and uncomfortable seating options. Some customers are disappointed by the cafe's refusal to allow dogs inside, noting that other nearby establishments welcome four-legged friends with open arms. However, those who have enjoyed their experience praise the homemade food, friendly service, and interesting gifts available for purchase. Despite some setbacks, Boogie Woogie remains a popular stop for locals and tourists alike.
It's a pity this cafe doesn't allow dogs inside. Both Greenacres Coffee Shop and the Quaich in Fochabers allow dogs inside. Also in Forres, both Chimes Coffee Shop and the 1469 Cafe welcome dogs. Since they are not in a food preparation area then it is not a problem. Boogie Woogie, please look around and think of what customers want. All of the dogs I've seen in the aforementioned cafes have been extremely well behaved and in fact better behaved and quieter than some of your humans. And, a further note, the seating pods you provide are cold, uncomfortable and not sociable as they are very separate from the rest of the cafe and not a welcoming seating option. Additionally the strip lighting you have installed into what was a previously cosy cafe give a harsh ambience and contribute to headaches.
Boogie Woogie is a lovely cafe, my only complaint is the coffee machine is very loud making what others say difficult to hear, even at a distance.
Loved this little cafe we were there on a cold wintery day in December and this was a haven of warmth, excellent coffee, friendly service and tasty food. Looked a little unassuming from the outside but inside was wonderfully retro with a wide range of options and facilities.
A very poor experience. We took my elderly mother in law for a late breakfast, travelling across from Fraserburgh some 45 miles. We liked the look and read the reviews, arriving before the 11.30 watershed as advised on your website. Despite arriving in time, the waitresses ignored us for some 10/15 minutes before telling us we were too late to order breakfast this was after taking an order from another table after 11.30. We were told to order a cake and a drink if we wanted anything at all. The waitress was not particularly apologetic and only 10 minutes later took a lunch order from another table (before midday another significant time). It cannot be outwith the capability of any cafe/restaurant to be able to serve soup and a roll without having to cook any food the soup could easily already be prepared and ready to serve. My wife has a catering background and was surprised at this. I would like to comment on your food but can only say that the biscuit looked dry; the scone was nice enough; the coffee was very poor and perhaps your staff might be equally disappointed had they been served a flat white with no crema or the cover of textured milk it might as well have been made form a cafetiere with warm milk added. Perhaps they've not visited other good barista cafes. Upon paying, the waitress asked if everything had been alright and looked surprised when I commented politely, becoming very defensive. After driving a round trip of some 90 miles, this was a very disappointing experience and we shall not bother again.
Great friendly service. Fab vegan boogie woogie breakfast! Would definitely come back. Reasonable pricing too. Thanks!
