Stray Cat Cafe - Moorefield
Stray Cat Cafe
Description
This restaurant showcases a diverse culinary offering, with highlights including tasty deep-fried chimichangas and well-crafted burgers. However, there's a notable inconsistency in service and food quality. Many diners report long wait times and underwhelming dish presentations, which detracts from the overall experience. Cleanliness appeared to be an issue, and some guests were left frustrated by inattentive staff. Despite the challenges, the friendly waitstaff and lively atmosphere can provide a redeeming experience, making it a potentially worthwhile stop for adventurous diners willing to overlook some flaws. Overall, it remains a restaurant with potential waiting to be fully realized.

I love their deep fried Chimis. The seating is a bit uncomfortable, but tolerable. The atmosphere is ok, but the lottery tv is annoying. The wait staff is friendly and attentive. The food is always good. It definitely needs an update to the furnishings. I returned for another meal. I had the fried chimichanga (it is my favorite here). The food was delicious. I like their rice and beans, because they are not the usual mushed beans and bland rice served by the majority of restaurants. The service was outstandind and the atmosphere more pleasant. I will definitely visit again.
If you're looking for a bar-like atmosphere, this is the place for you. It's a bit on the dingy side, but as I mentioned, it is a bar. There is some restaurant seating that looks nice, although I haven’t tried it. They offer pool tables, a large bar, and consistently show keno and sports programming. It's also family-friendly! The atmosphere is welcoming, the service is excellent, and they have a decent selection of beers. The menu features Mexican-style dishes with daily specials throughout. The food is pretty much what you would expect, but I rated it low because it doesn’t stand out as anything particularly special.
This place used to be fantastic before the original owner passed away. (Rip Dave). The food was great, the service was great and Dave loved everyone and made sure their experience here was satisfactory. Since his wife took over this place, I give it a year before it closes or someone buys it. The prices have gone up while the food quality and quantity has gone down. My wife ordered a pitcher of margaritas. 45 minutes. We then ordered food, 55 minutes. I had To ask for the same drink three times, and ask for extra condiments twice. Although the waitresses attitude and demeanor was superb, she was very nice. The issues started when my wife and her two friends ordered Long Island ice teas. This is where it gets bad......... The long islands were wayyyy heavy on the liquor. So we Politely asked the server to take them back. Then the owner comes out, and YELLS at US. In front of a half filled restaurant with people staring while she yells how they were fine and we were costing her money. She then got loud and a very bad attitude and arguing with someone at our party that we didn't know what we were talking about and the customer is never right, and also, that we WOULD be paying for the drinks. We use to love this place, but now, we won't be back until someone else owns it. This won't be very long with Anne's poor business management, decisions and disrespect to her customers. If I could give it 0 stars I would. So sad what has happened to a once awesome place to eat in our hometown.
Even the menu was dirty. Restroom appears to have mold growing in the walls. Had their signature Chimichanga . Batter and deep fried, which was different and not bad. The venue could be very good, but advertises being a Mexican restaurant, and has ONE Mexican item in their lunch menus. Confusing and disappointed.
My husband ordered a burrito that arrived looking smothered in American cheese. My son chose the chicken strips from the $3.99 kids' menu, which came with two small, dry chicken strips—each barely bigger than a McDonald’s chicken nugget—along with a small container of applesauce, and surprisingly, a fruit roll-up for dessert. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger from the lunch special menu, but it came without the bacon and was lukewarm at best. At least the bun was good!
