Was Christophe Goldner at Anancy a mag?
First time went to a Jamaican restaurant in Montreal. Wow! Was I ever impressed. Nothing fancy but just good homemade caribbean cuisine. Its bring your own wine. We started with an entree of fried calamari, chicken wings and fried fish patties. Then we had pumpkin soup. Main meal was the boneless jerk chicken which comes with rice and two plantains. Was it ever so tasty! Really enjoyed it and planning on going back. View all feedback.

What Alford Haag dislikes about Anancy:
I live in Montreal love to eat, I have been to Anancy many times over the years, no problem finding the place, parking accessible on the street in a pretty safe neighbourhood of NDG. They have a variety of traditional Jamaican meals. First time I tried the pumpkin soup I thought I was in heaven! good portions and a nice ambiance. Not a Hugh restaurant very cosy n intimate, love the amazing art that decorates the wall... View all feedback.

The staff seemed genuinely surprised to see us (we were the only customers). Two men were sitting outside chatting (seemed to be somehow related to the folks working inside). Were asked if we had called ahead, which I did not understand. The waitress mentioned that the situation was so because they had just reopened but I did not notice renovations and don't see why they would have opened if they were not ready. Very little to offer (did not bother giving us a menu). No jerk chicken, which is the reason we were visiting the restaurant. At that point, we should have just left. The chicken roti was not stuffed full. As this was a BYOB, we asked for glasses, but they said they did not have any(!). Were given free bottles of water to compensate but obviously, that was not the point. Sad experience.

We ordered delivery from this restaurant twice and we will never make that mistake again. Both times, the food was tasty, but they were seriously late. They told us it would be 45 minutes, but the first time it took 1 hour 15 minutes, and the second time it took 1 hour 45 minutes! We had seriously hungry kids by the time the food arrived. They never called to warn us. They didn`t offer us a free soup or something. They didn`t even apologize. I guess they have so many customers, they don`t care if they lose one.
