Carlito's Mexican Grill - Montgomery

I gave this restaurant a two-star rating because the service was fine and the restroom was clean. However, I was disappointed with the quality of the Mexican cuisine in Alabama. This is the second Mexican restaurant I have tried in this state and it seems like all the flavor disappears once you leave Texas. The steak tasted like it was cooked on a flat grill, unmarinated, tough, and greasy. The vegetables I ordered were also overly greasy. The salsa was not good and the bar glass I was served my drink in was dirty, with residue from the previous person's drink bubbling up. Thank you for the hospitality, but the food was not up to par. I prefer authentic, freshly made food, not canned products. The only thing that tasted right was the side of fresh avocado. I suggest finding a skilled cook to improve the quality of your dishes. The margaritas were delightful. However, I was disappointed when my two beef tacos arrived at the table cold, to the point where the cheese didn't even melt. I may only come back for the margaritas.

The chips and salsa were enjoyable, but the rest of the meal was mediocre or below. The refried beans seemed diluted, and they were out of several beer options. The Chile Relleno was soggy. However, the staff were friendly and attentive.

Excellent chili relleno, fresh chips, delicious salsa. Best service. Authentic food. We just “happened” upon this place but will return today.

Very good and fresh- had carne asada and camarones asados. All grilled and wonderful with fresh salad on the side.
