We live nearby and came for a Mother’s Day dinner as a special treat. We booked a table for 5 pm but were told to wait in the lobby until 5:20 pm because the kitchen wasn’t ready. After being seated, we waited 20 minutes just to place our order, and then another 45 minutes before any food arrived. The portions were ridiculously small and overpriced—barely enough for a young child. We sat with our dirty plates for 20 minutes before a kindly staff member cleared them. Then we were given dessert menus but left waiting for 30 minutes before having to call someone over to take our order, and then waited an additional 5 minutes before anyone came. When the desserts finally arrived, we found a hair in one of them. The bistro wasn’t busy at all, so there’s no excuse for such poor service. I would never recommend this place for dining or leisure. It’s completely disorganized and shows no care for customers. I’m very disappointed, especially since I had considered this hotel as a potential wedding venue. We will never return.

The staff were friendly... read more During a summer Wine Dine break, Vettriano’s glass conservatory doors opened onto a lovely, cool terrace—a perfect escape from the heat. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and provided prompt service. Unfortunately, part of my starter was forgotten and I had to ask where it was. For the main course, I had salmon, which was overcooked and bland, lacking seasoning. In hindsight, I should have chosen the duck, as my husband’s dish was delicious and generous in portion. For dessert, I had the chocolate brownie, which was disappointing—thin and chewy. I prefer my brownies to have a crisp exterior and moist, even gooey, interior. Despite these minor setbacks, we had a wonderful break; the attentive staff, lovely facilities, and excellent breakfast selection more than made up for them.
