What Challe88 dislikes about Rifugio Bugone:
Me and my boyfriend came here for his birthday lunch. The hike took approximately 1,5 hours from Hotel Imperiale we didn't find it as tough as some other reviews suggests, but do bring plenty of water! Unfortunately we came here on a day with bad weather and had to sit inside but the staff was friendly, the place is cheap and the food was nice. What else can you ask for? View all feedback.

We walked to the mountain hut from the Moltrasio town. Took us 2.5 hours but the path was interesting (initially is part of via di crucis) over cobbled stone. We also passed an abandoned town. The view of the lake was fantastic and some parts of the walk were steep and also in the shade. The mountain hut is typical of the lake area and had an al fresco area for summer dining and internal fireplace for winter dining. Food is characteristic of the mountain.
My brother and i stayed here after a days walking. Nice room, but the best thing about this place is the food and hospitality. We had an excellent meal that left us completely stuffed (and pretty drunk on decent house wine). The fromaggio mista was the best on the planet 12 cheeses, all very interesting. Lovely views over the lake as well. Really good value, particularily if you stay over and go half board.
I ended up with e coli and ill for over a month as a result of being served moldy cake. When I showed the staff, they didn't seem to care. Pretty view but not worth the mountain top food poisoning
This place was amazing!!!!! My boyfriend and I hiked three hours to the top of the mountains and waiting was this rustic restaurant with great service. We had the antipasto plate which was delicious, 3 types of cheese and 4 types of meat. The risotto dish and the pork with polenta and gravy was out of this world. Most authentic mom and pop little Italian restaurants in the mountains you could find. The hike is very difficult but the reward was well worth it.
