Wow what Culinary excellence! and a modern /comfortable atmosphere Well thought out dishes with complimentary but unique combinations of great food and such a refreshing change to many other venues Very well presented too Great service with personal professional attention where each dish explained in person when served but also had a QR code with photos of each dish to help ordering High quality and good value .
Our friends were staying at an AirBnB and the owner stated this was one of her favorite restaurants, so we decided to try it. We were a little nervous because we were the only ones there when we arrived but the food was unique and amazing and the restaurant quickly filled up. They are small plates, so we got to try almost everything on the menu and it was all delicious.
Take a drab interior, adorn the walls with photographs to try and cheer the space, add a hint of uncleared drain smell, and turn it into a restaurant. Sound enticing? Only if the hurdles can be leapt with exceptional food and wonderful hospitality. So, against the odds, how did Prospero fair? Let 's start with the good; delicious starters (a Piedmonte beef tartare, and a well prepared artichoke dish). Then the OK, a main course (turbot, and pork) both of which were cooked well, but basic and in desperate need of accompaniment. And finally dessert, which missed the mark by a country mile (and which, apparently, no customer has ever mentioned before). As an owner, what do you do if the space is not great and the food needs work? Apparently tell an Emporer 's new clothes website story. In our experience, alongside the explanation of 'kitchen in motion ' and 'the label is important ', the owner might add 'the carefully executed blank expression ', which appears instantly when constructive customer feedback meets unappealing front of house arrogance. In summary: it was nearly good and with practice (and humility) Prospero has potential. For now, proceed with caution, and on no account mention the naked truth.
Yes the dishes are really good and different experience. We tried 3 starters, 2 main course which was delicious fishes and one bottle of wine totally 150€.
Cannot fault the food but DO NOT trust them with your wine order, double check to make sure it is what you ordered. We ordered a second bottle of wine different to our first, the waitress brought it over and poured some to taste, we liked it so she poured 4 glasses. Several minutes later the waiter in charge came over and told us there had been a mistake and we’d been given a €155 bottle of wine instead of a €55/65 bottle of wine! We’d already started to drink it at this point so it’s not like we could return it! Despite them admitting it was their mistake they then gave us the bill charging us the full amount! When we challenged this they said ‘you enjoyed the wine’ like that made it ok. In the end we ended up having to split the difference which is totally unacceptable and really spoiled what was a lovely meal up until that point. We are residents in Modena and we will not be returning. Very disappointing!
