Loop Seafood
Description
A lively seafood spot known for fresh daily catches, generous portions and perfectly cooked shrimp and crawfish when things run well. House-cooked options, gumbo and turkey neck draw regulars, and friendly staff handle large groups efficiently. Still, expect indoor-only seating, potential waits, and occasional quality or packaging issues — overly salty or mushy crawfish, missing sauces, and leaks have been reported. There's also a controversial EBT cooking fee. Overall, a strong choice for seafood lovers seeking casual, no-frills dining with reliable group service.

Mudbugs is a fantastic seafood restaurant offering fresh daily catches, including delicious crawfish and a variety of other seafood options. Located at the former Loop Ice House, they still provide bulk ice as well. It's definitely worth a visit!
When I finally received the order, I placed it in a styrofoam cooler I had in the car, only to discover that it had leaked significantly due to poor packaging. Thankfully, I had the cooler; otherwise, it would have made a mess in the car. When I got home, I found that the bag contained almost 2 pounds of liquid, which meant I essentially received less than 9 pounds of crawfish. To make matters worse, my two containers of garlic butter were missing. The crawfish itself was overly salty, with some pieces being mushy and a few having dirt on them. I won’t be returning; there are plenty of other crawfish spots in the area that I’m sure are much better.
The food here is excellent, but I find it quite disappointing that they accept EBT cards and then charge a cooking fee. EBT shouldn't be used for expensive seafood, and prepared food purchases are generally not allowed with these cards. They've found a workaround by selling the food as EBT eligible and then adding a small fee for cooking. Essentially, our taxes are helping to support this practice. That said, the food is usually quite good. I might go grab some wings today.
The worst crawfish we have ever had. It was way to salty for us to eat. We ordered 10 pounds and could only do almost half between us 4...The seafood gumbo and turkey neck were good though. We came here around 12 or 1pm on a Tuesday. You go in and order at the front. Food takes a while to come out. Only 1 restroom for each gender. Indoor dining only.
