I was never so thrilled to drive through the charming village of moate where the icon that is Meat Loaf once chanted like a bat out of hell. I was brought to this fine village to enter my rhubarb tart into moate show. After claiming 1st prize for the most tasty tart I was quite peckish. I stumbled across Claffeys and by god I’ll never forget it. I ordered a t-bone steak which melted in my mouth after my fine appetiser of celery sticks. I concluded my meal with a slice of my own tart which the staff were so kind to heat up for me and even treated me to a scoop of coffee flavoured ice cream. I washed it all down with a pint of stout and went off on my merry way. I will without a doubt be back this time next year to win another prize, see the local stars at moate show, treat myself to another powerful steak and of course I’ll have bat out of hell on replay for the journey. Goodbye and thank you. Yano what they say mighty midlands and it sure is.

Went for the Thursday special: 4 courses for €19.99. We were in a party of 4. Two had fillet steak(€9 supplement) and two of us had the 'smash burger '. Came with salad and a large serving of chips. Everyone thought their meals were so good, and such an amazing offer. Would definitely return here again.

I recently discovered this restaurant and it is absolutely perfect. The food is top quality and the staff are incredibly friendly and efficient. Their Thursday night special is a bonus. This was my second visit and I will definitely be returning. - Gerardine Tracey, Athlone
