Was Anonym at Hotel Mitchell a mag?
I visited the Mitchell hotel a couple of times. Bar staff are overseas backpackers who are helpful and up for a chat. I also struck up a conversation with a couple of the locals, well they were within a couple of hundred kilometers which makes them a local in a big country. Meals a average pub grub, but always more enjoyable in an Outback Pub venue. Bottle shop pool table and all the usuals View all feedback.

What Anonym dislikes about Hotel Mitchell:
Terrible...........really awful food. Ordered steak and whilst it was a large serve it was almost inedible. The salad and obligatory chips were not much better. Suggest you have a beer here and move on....... View all feedback.

Mitchell is a quaint town with dwindling population, and this pub is the last one standing. Despite being old and outdated, it exudes a rustic charm. The highlight here is the excellent beer selection, and the meals are hearty pub-style dishes made with fresh, quality ingredients. If you're looking for a simple, satisfying meal paired with a cold beer, this is the place to go. However, if you're expecting a luxurious 5-star experience, you may want to look elsewhere in the city.

We initially stopped by for a few beers but ended up staying the whole night. The restaurant is still under construction since taking over a new property. It seems like the accommodation section is now open, based on what we saw. Even though there wasn't much to see inside, the friendliness and warmth from the bartender and owner were exceptional. It felt like we were being welcomed into their home for the night. We wish them all the best as they continue to improve and open their doors to new customers.

This restaurant in Mitchell is a great option for dining. The food is delicious, the staff is friendly, and the drinks are served cold. There are plenty of seating options, including the restaurant, bar, and hotel dining room. The menu offers gluten-free options as well.

This was a great local pub with friendly staff and delicious food. enjoyed the visit and would recommend to others traveling.

I am staying at the Hotel Mitchell,in the main street of the town of the same name in western Queensland, Australia. This classic Queensland Hotel was designed by the same architect who designed the slightly more famous Corones’ Hotel in Charleville. The hotel restaurant “Way...out West” has a new chef named Mariano who hails from Abruzzo near Rome, Italy and he really knows how to cook! Assisted by the lovely Leonie from Fontainebleau near Paris, France my two business associates and I enjoyed a sensational dish of smoked red paprika chicken with red and green capsicums “bell peppers” for those who live outside Australia accompanied by egg plant “aubergine” , finely cubed new potatoes and garlic bread. Mine host Mark, the publican recommended a ‘Holbrook Road’ 2016 Chardonnay, from Tanunda in the Barossa Valley in South Australia. This wine is produced by a family concern who have been frowning grapes, and making wine, since 1853. The Chardonnay displayed tropical fruit character and fresh crisp cleansing acids with a lingering finish to marvellously complement the “old world taste” of red paprika Chicken. Dinner over, we are now enjoying a single malt whisky in front of the open fire in the lounge, as the temperature tonight will likely fall to 3 degrees Celsius 37 degrees Fahrenheit If you are travelling way out west, do not miss this hotel! See my separate review of the thermal pool naturally heated artesian water from 3000 metres underground across the road
