What Alison Charman dislikes about Basal:
The large Brussel sprout Caesar salad $16.50) with added chicken for $6) was very tasty but surprisingly small for the price. At first I thought they forgot the brussel sprouts but when I got to the bottom I found 2 shavings. The amount of chicken was also surprisingly small maybe $2 worth). A bit disappointing for a healthy Missoula alternative. View all feedback.
The food is great. We enjoyed the cornbread, beet salad with steak ask for it hot , and the tea was awesome. The only thing that wasn't awesome is that they had some homeless guest which through off my appetite a bit... But the food and service made up for it. I'd definitely go again anytime I'm in Missoula.

Lovely little salad bar in downtown Missoula, offering stir fry, smoothies, coffee drinks, and, unsurprisingly, salad. Prices are quite high and they have a weird pricing scheme whereby half portions are $17 when the full is $20. Makes me think the half portions are severely overpriced, but ok. For lunch, I ended up spending $50 for 2 salad and a smoothie, which is more than I spent in sit down restaurants for dinner. Vibe is nice, though seating is limited and there's no table service.
