Wakame is a neighborhood staple. I've been going here for 10 years and have tried most of the stuff on the menu and always return for sushi, which is one of the best in town. The owner takes a lot of pride in the space and is well known for being a good host. The cocktails here are a hit too and the bar staff have always been polite. I had a roller-coaster day at work and came for lunch. Food was good, service was great, and the music was excellent.
Really good rolls, service could be more attentive but all in all the food outweighs the service!
Visited Wakame this past Friday and my experience was super weird. I 've eaten here several times and there 's always really long waits for seating and service but the food in the past has made it worth it. We were seated after a couple of minutes and were brought water by the host. When our waiter came he also had waters so we had 4 waters total, which was weird but we giggled about it and it was 't a dealbreaker. I ordered their Together Fried Rice because it sounded yummy, but before I did I asked what veggies came in it. The server said just peas and carrorts . I asked him again to be sure if there was any beansprouts due to an allergy I have and he reiterated just peas and carrorts again. Our sushi came out first because it was Happy Hour and I triedtheir Crazy Monkey Roll which was a 10/10. However, when the waiter came to check on us while we ate our sushi he seemed like he had forgotten about the fried rice. He comes back in 2 mins with rice that has no peas or carrots and has tons of beansprouts in it : My partner notices their are beansprouts before I do and we send it back. Our waiter apologies and comes back with the same fried rice as before, same temperature, and still has some beansprouts in it) This ruined my lunch and it made me question what kind of business they run at Wakame in their kitchen. A cook picked out the beansprouts instead of making new rice. This is wrong on so many levels and was handled horribly by the staff that was there Friday July 18th, at 4pm. I 'll probably never eat here again. Parking: 10 spots, all usually taken by the salon next door, the Ben and Jerrys or other businesses in this crowded lot.
