Unideli - Minneapolis
Unideli
Description
UNI-DELI offers a unique dining experience with a range of ramen and other Asian-inspired dishes. While the helpful staff received praise, many diners found the flavors lacking, particularly citing excessive saltiness in the broths. The ambiance is casual, ideal for a quick meal, with an interesting grocery section. Adventurous patrons may uncover hidden gems, but consistency remains a concern. Despite some satisfying dishes like the Tantanmen and pork belly, many leave wishing for improved flavor balance. Overall, although there's potential, UNI-DELI struggles to consistently deliver an authentic ramen experience.
Feedback
I absolutely love the ramen here! I highly recommend the Tantanmen or Spicy Miso Ramen. Their takeout service is exceptional, and they really do a fantastic job. This place is a hidden gem, and I hope it remains around for a long time! I just wish they were open later.
Now that United Noodles has introduced a take-and-go section, the selection of ready-made food has greatly increased. I've always been a fan of the ramen from Unideli. The Tonkatsu Ramen features a rich, flavorful broth and a variety of tasty ingredients. Today, I tried the spam musubi (the panko-crusted version, though there’s a simpler option available in the take-and-go area) and takoyaki. Both dishes were excellent.
I tried the reef noodles, the beef breeze was perfectly cooked and the noodles were good. The broth wasn't as tasty as before. I also had the pleasure of trying the Fried Spam Musubi. The musubi was perfectly roasted. The sauce on the musubi was also really good. I really enjoyed it, I'd go back there.
Usually very busy. Ramen was good, but lack of taste after the first few bites. The rams also arrived warm and we visited a very quiet day. The Deli is closed on Mondays
That said, the staff was very helpful. Unfortunately, they ran out of beef noodles for the dish my wife had wanted, but they kindly offered Ramen noodles as a substitute after she suggested it (the beef noodles wouldn’t be ready for at least 40 minutes, and she is quite particular about her food). She also ordered a fruit bowl, which turned out to be quite good. I was eager to try the Korean Chicken Wings and the Tantanmen dish, but neither was on the menu, so I opted for a Shrimp appetizer (not listed online, and I can’t remember the name). It was very enjoyable. For my main course, I chose a Shoyu dish with pork as the protein, which also wasn’t on the online menu. It was pretty tasty, though perhaps a bit too salty, but the pork belly was excellent. I had seen UNI-DELI referred to as a great place for affordable eats in the cities, but that seems to have changed. I left a generous tip for our servers because they did a wonderful job, and our lunch for two came to $50. We also explored the grocery section and found some interesting items to take home. While it’s a unique place, it seems to be quite different from what it used to be. I’m giving it three stars mainly because of the fantastic staff. If the new ownership or management can make some adjustments, they already have a great team in place.
