I am a fan of Akis BreadHaus. Their brotchen, 3 days fermented sauerdough is my favorite. I miss their old place on central Ave. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
I am obsessed with everything Aki’s has to offer. We’re so happy to have Aki’s at the Maple Grove Farmers Market every Thursday! The Honey Oat loaf and pretzel sticks are my favorite. Without a doubt, this is the BEST German bakery in the state, if not in the entire Midwest. The service is unmatched, and the staff is incredibly friendly. The bread is fantastic and makes me yearn for a trip back to Germany. Pair their bread rolls with Leberkäse (from Bavaria Sausage in Wisconsin) or their pretzels with Weisswurst (also from Bavaria Sausage) and a Helles beer, and you'll feel like you're in heaven! Their chive rolls, bread loaves, and pastries are equally wonderful. I always stock up whenever I make the 45-minute trip one way. I dislike driving in Minneapolis, but THIS is the ONLY occasion I’ll be brave enough to drive myself in that city.
Akis is back! Make sure to stop by early to get the best selection. All the popular items that fans loved are available again, including Bauernbrot, white sourdough, pan breads, crazy raisin bread, bacon, cheese, and chive rolls, caramel pecan rolls, pretzels, and more. Once they run out for the day, they're gone, so plan accordingly! Please support this local business! It's probably the closest you can get to authentic German bread in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. Highly recommended!
