Incredible experience. the chef on the accident to go from food business, to buy from bananas. was just great. the back story at all places and even the new cook from the old cook. I felt well dined and pampered. I came out of work, and they made me feel like home. definitiw a beautiful place, no matter what you dressed in them treat them like royal. one of my favorite dining experiences to date. I wish my date was not at home in daytona. one must try, but know it are 4 courses and $100 per person. at least before they go into the door. that's worth it.
It will blow your head! great creative cuisine! not her regular steak and pasta, but really well made multi-taste dishes. well defined and courageous. I just loved it!
Where do I even begin because everything from the food to the service and the atmosphere was amazing. We did the 4 course menu and there isn't a bad thing on the menu because everything we tried was delicious and had beautiful presentation. On top of an amazing dinner our server Ralph was amazing. He had an amazing sense of humor but at the same time was very professional and all the other staff refilling water and switching out silverware were on top of everything. This is by far the best restaurant in Milwaukee.
I haven't been to Sanford in decades, and it was wonderful to meet old friends at this vestige of Milwaukee elegant dining. So many of the great white tablecloth restaurants of lore are gone: Grenadier's, Osteria del Mondo, Mike and Anna's,Fleur de Lis, etc. Sanford now remains on top of the Milwaukee restaurant scene. It is the best restaurant in Milwaukee, and our dinner was perfect, and I use that word the way it was meant. It went by without a flaw. The four course set menu on Saturday night at $85 a person is reasonable for this kind of gourmet cooking. Service is elegant and professional. Because Sanford does not have the space for a sit down bar, it can come across as stuffy, but that is not the intent of the staff. Thus, don't be intimidated and feel the need to be hush hush. This is Milwaukee, and fun is inherent in everything you should do. Sanford is a great restaurant. Go, dine well, and have a good time.
I was lucky enough to work at Sanford in college over 24 years ago and had not been back to dine for 12 years. The meal and our service was just as amazing as always. Love the four course menu! I’ll be back soon.
