Description

The Anchorage, once a vibrant dining establishment, has received mixed reviews since its transformation from the previous venue. While some guests have enjoyed delicious dishes like cheese curds and tenderloin medallions, others lament the limited menu options and lack of signature items that once defined the restaurant. Service experiences vary, with some praising attentive staff while others note issues with event coordination and miscommunication. Overall, though the ambiance and certain menu offerings can surprise diners positively, many feel that the concept has lost its charm, urging those looking for a special dining experience to consider alternatives.

I had my wedding reception at Anchorage. Initially, we were told we could have sky lamps, but after purchasing them, we were informed they were no longer allowed. Our original coordinator left for a new job, and when we switched to someone else, communication from their side was minimal. We bought a package that included an open bar for a set number of hours, but as the wedding was winding down, my wife and I got in line for a drink during cocktail hour and were told we had to pay. Thankfully, it was us and not a guest who went up first. We later found the coordinator with our paperwork and had him fix the issue. During the reception, the steaks were served undercooked—so much so that you could see the mashed potatoes turning red from the bleeding meat. Overall, it was a terrible experience, and I would recommend looking elsewhere for your special day. That said, Nick the bartender was fantastic.

I visited Anchorage for the first time since before my wedding. The head chef at that time prepared the meal for our reception when my wife and I held it here (back when it was the Hilton Milwaukee Rivercenter). I'm not sure if the same culinary team is still in place, but our appetizers and dinner were excellent. My wife and I will definitely be returning. Our waitress was very courteous and even accommodated my request to customize a meal that wasn’t on the menu but was similar to another dish. I highly recommend Anchorage!

This establishment feels more like a snack bar for the Holiday Inn than a proper restaurant. It has no resemblance to the Anchorage restaurant it replaced. The food is at least edible, but that’s about the only positive thing I can mention. They don’t even offer coffee for dessert.

The bill for our breakfast was inaccurate! It was just my husband and me, but the food was delicious.

We celebrated our grandparents' anniversary at this beautiful restaurant, which had a lovely setup. The food was mostly excellent, with the roast beef and baked chicken cooked to perfection. However, the fried chicken didn't meet our expectations. The side dishes were outstanding, and we only wished we could have taken some food home with us. The only downside was the sound system, which could use some improvement. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would definitely consider returning in the future.
