3 - Millvale

Don't get me wrong, the food is fantastic! Couldn't be better! HOWEVER, the prices or rather lack of an updated menu / website leaves much to be desired. Imagine my surprise when I am told that my bill is $12.00 more than what I expect to pay because I am up-to-date and accurate due to the pricing on the website that I expect. When I asked the bartender who was by the way a nice person, she told me that the manager said the menu was from the date and the website needed update. When I asked for an updated menu, something was told to me that the MANAGER did not come around to print any updated menus. Sounds like the joint needs a new manager! This is a dipping bar in Millvale, so that next time I want to pay 20.00 for a burger, I drive to Sewickley and buy one there.

We took a quick dinner before a show at Mr. Smalls. The bar area was quite crowded and the dining room gradually filled while we were there. The first thing that literally hits you is the strong smell of air eaters when you enter. It was so overwhelming that I almost had to go. We used to it gradually, but it's not pleasant. The second thing we noticed was how untrained and stretched our waitress. There was a bartender and our waitress and a chef at night. When we asked what beers were on tap and whether they had any IPAs, she was not sure what beers they served or what an IPA was really. I must say she was as pleasant as pie, but dressed in a glittering half-shirt with naked midriff and tight pants with high heels, the outfit was just strange for a waitress. I had to go to the bar to order another beer because it was just too busy to even notice. The Californian burger I ordered was cooked to the perfect middle stage and the frits were fresh and beautifully salted. We could see the cook with a bowl to gently throw them in salt when they came out of the frit. He coughed and got the food pretty fast because it was just him. The avocado on the burger was also fresh and perfectly ripe. I hope the cook will be well paid because he deserves every penny. Times are hard for small entrepreneurs nowadays. I understand. The food was good and our server was very nice. It only needs to be trained on the menu and drinks/beers. And they have to get rid of the overwhelming air refresher and the root for any smell they try to mask. There are real potentials with some small tweaks.

I wasn't sure what to expect here, but my partner and I needed a bite to eat before a show at Mr Smalls Funhouse. The experience here was honestly great. The prices have scared me almost, but for the first time in a long time, I felt like the amount we spent was worth SOOO WELL. Best burgers I've ever had, great drinks!

Very pricey (menu online was not accurate). Service was horrible unless you were sitting at the bar. There were no actual servers. Just the bartenders would come by but only by flagging them down and they forgot our drinks multiple times. Our friends food came out 10 minutes prior to my husband and I and they were almost done eating before we finally got our food. The bartender was also slinging back shots. That being said the food was good. Wouldn’t go back though due to poor service and prices.

Great atmosphere, friendly staff, without question the best Reuben I have ever had and my girlfriends burger was spectacular as well.
