What loro 44 doesn't like about Danico:
We had a reservation for 7:15 and arrived right on time. Our party had salads and entrees. At 840 half of us departed to catch the train in 10 minutes back to the city. The remaining group stayed to pay the bill. The busboy or waiter was really rude and asked them as soon upon paying the bill to leave as another group had been waiting an hour for our table. Apparently this place reopened under new ownership. Kind of bizarre to reopen as a dated restaurant with no flair for anything modern or to embrace classic dishes with care. I’ve been to dated restaurants where the food is outstanding and it overcomes the appearance but this was not that place. The bread was tough and brought alongside land o lakes wrapped butter packets. First red flag. The baked eggplant app was a single piece of eggplant as thin as a contact lens for $10.95. My wife ordered the Raviol Fatti which was watery and collectively agreed upon as not good with no taste of truffle Essence alongside soggy mushrooms. The mussels were good but in general the dishes were overpriced for their quality. The restaurant has a huge space for great potential but it is used poorly and is begging for a gutjob to transform it into something more palatable for the clientele that exists in millburn. I’m not into speaking I’ll of restaurants because I know how tough a business it is to succeed but it really seems as if they don’t try and are content with dated and bland food. BYOB is positive aspect

Great restaurant. We enjoyed the food and the hospitality.
Can’t imagine that was our fault or how they could be waiting an hour for a table we were sat at 85 minutes ago. I don’t consider an hour and a half a terribly long time for a meal. We are not the kind of people to sit around just hang after a meal. I won’t be coming back to spend my money here despite the food being good.
If I could give zero stars I would. Tonight was possibly the worst dining experience I have ever had. I will never go back to Da Nico, and neither will my dining companions. I don't plan on saying nice things about the place either. We arrived slightly in advance of our 5:15 reservation, made so we could get to the Papermill for a 7 pm show. We ordered by 5:30, had appetizers and left at 6:35 our dinners still had not been served and there was no indication that would be happening any time soon. The excuse we were given, with some apologies from our waiter no manager in evidence was that there was a large party in the house. Too bad! You should not have taken our reservation if you did not have the capacity to serve us! Highly disappointing and inexcusable for a restaurant that claims it serves theater goers. We should not even have been asked to pay for our appetizers and soft drinks. Don't make a reservation here if you expect to get out in time to see a show . A manager should have apologized for ruining our evening which was also a 48th wedding anniversary celebration. What a disappointment.
