My favorite japanese restaurant in Cali (not sushi or ramen). Easy parking and access
We often pass by Bashamichi, located on the ground floor of the La Quinta Hotel, and were pleasantly surprised to discover it’s open all day starting from lunch. We decided to try it for dinner and had a tough time choosing from the menu, as so many dishes sounded delicious. Noticing our indecision, the waiter recommended the Lover Combo, which included a rainbow roll, a dragon roll, 8 pieces of assorted nigiri, 8 pieces of assorted sashimi, and 2 miso soups. It was an excellent choice—everything was fresh, perfectly seasoned, and very satisfying. The portion size could easily serve three to four people, but the two of us finished it all. My only minor critique is that the rice could have been stickier, which is crucial for great sushi. The service was outstanding, and the total bill was more affordable than I expected for a sushi restaurant.
I tried the Bashamichi roll and would definitely order it again. I also had the Rock and Roll, which features eel, and it was excellent—especially paired with the dipping sauce they provide. It’s not the best sushi I've ever had, but certainly not the worst. I’d eat here again when visiting the area.
