Description

The restaurant at Mill Bay Marina offers a mixed experience. Some guests express disappointment with overpriced, greasy, and tasteless food, while others find the location pleasant with good views, friendly servers, and tasty menu items. The negative reviews mention lost reservations and poor customer service, but highlights include the modern decor, wonderful view of the marina, and top-notch food. Overall, the restaurant seems to have potential but may need to work on consistency in customer service and food quality.

Enjoyed the views but the food was overpriced for the quality. Steak was lacking flavour and was dry even though I ordered it medium rare. Prawns were all batter and prawns were almost non existent. Tried to peel off the batter to get to the prawns but wasn’t enough prawn to taste. When I called earlier in the day to reserve, I was told there wasn’t much time slots left to choose from and that all they had was 4:30pm so that’s what we had. We arrived at 4:pm and the place was almost empty, we stayed till 6:30 and it was still almost empty, so not sure what that was all about.

So disappointed with the poor quality of the food. The tempura Prawns were mostly greasy overcooked batter with what appeared to be a thin strip of prawn, not a whole prawn. They were accompanied by fishy tasting seaweed salad and a tasteless sauce. The meatloaf sandwich was cold and the meatloaf was tasteless and rubbery. Fries were hot but greasy. My husband's beer was somewhat flat. The food was overpriced, but we were anticipating a good meal. No wonder they weren't busy. When asked how it was I told the waitress the Prawns were greasy and she offered to have them replaced. Fool me once...so if you want to sit and enjoy the view have a coffee maybe but don't waste your money on the menu items. If you want great tempura Prawns stop by the Timberlodge Sehmi restaurant in Port Alberni.

We love visiting this area and growing up in the maritimes, I love local seafood. The reviews were pretty flattering so we decided to give it a try. I ordered the seafood chowder and fish and chips. Well without beating anyone up I will simply say I do not recommend these two items on the menu. The chowder was very thin and mostly broth and the fish batter was so greasy I couldn’t eat it. It is very pretty there though as it’s right on the water.

I booked well over week in advance and asked for a window table, as it was my birthday. When we got there we were stuck in the middle of the room. We could not see the water at all for all the lights in the room; might as well have been in a windowless basement. The calamari had so much spicy breading on it, there was no taste of calamari at all. The steak and scallops is highly misleading, as I was given 1 small scallop, cut into 4 thin slices, and wrapped in so much bacon, that by the time I extricated the slice of scallop, it tasted like a salt pellet. I asked for my steak to have no blood , yet blood oozed out all over and ruined the veggies, so I couldn 't eat anything on the plate. Right on the water and yet they don 't serve fish that isn 't battered and deep fried with fries. That was the worst $35 entree, worst alleged view , and the worst birthday ever. It gets 1 out of 5 because the waitress was nice.

We have been here a few times with great food and customer service, however, this time was a very disappointing experience. Waited 45 minutes to get into the restaurant, understandable as they are popular. Once we were at our table, appies were served fairly quickly but dinner was over an hour. We were a table of 4 and our food was not only late, but the prime rib also was not how we requested and the yorkshire which was HUGE was dried out. The waiter was awesome, however, Mgmt lacked people skills and showed pics on his phone of how busy the kitchen was and made no attempt to appease a repeat customer. Thought for the day Good news travels fast, bad news travels faster It was a shame as I really looked forward to the great meal they usually serve
