After reading all the thrilled reviews on Trip Advisor booked in for what turned out to be a rather mediocre dinner. The atmosphere is cute and on trend, the waiter extremely friendly and gracious. However, we are cocktail people and the selection seemed sweet across...the board and the Purple Rain drenched us in a strange, almost undrinkable combination of flavours. We had three appetisers the black octopus on toast it was very under seasoned. The deep fried crab spring rolls were extremely greasy and the dipping sauce not particularly notable. The stuffed Portabello mushroom resembled an uninspired pizza. Main courses were more acceptable but certainly not mouth watering. The stand out dish was the shrimp soup which was almost too spicy and though it had a rich flavour profile there was a heavy layer of grease on top, which was not entirely appealing. The Fettuccini Alfredo was good, but again, no discernible garlic so lacklustre. The beer battered shrimp were floppy rather than crispy. Overall I found it an adequate dinner, but am flummoxed about the hype surrounding Zolache. Perhaps it has recently fizzled out or we have a different palate? Zolache was attempting to put twists and unusual combos together but the lack of seasoning bruised the basics and left us flat.
This is a new place in Polanco. Surprisingly we were the only table but service and food quality were of top quality. As expected with new places, the service was very good.
An absolute delight!! The atmosphere in this place is very welcoming. The food is off the hook!! A friend of mine recommended this restaurant and I'm glad I came to check it out. I ordered the seared tuna and I completely cleaned the plate. If...you visit Mexico City you MUST visit Zolache!
Went to Mexico City for a few days to meet some people, one of them had a birthday that week and we decided to have dinner at this new restaurant, a person in our group heard its was very good and he was spot on...with his comment, the food is just great, extensive menu with many options for all, the service was perfect, the manager and then the chef came over to our table to check on us, both very friendly and profesional, once they found out it was our friends birthday and we had finished our dinner they sent us a round of drinks on the house, then another one, well we ended up celebrating here all night long, thanks to all the staff we had a great night and cant wait to go back soon, if you are in Polanco there might be plenty of options but dont miss this gem, you will not regret it!
