3 words. Go To Ida's. You won't regret it. Marsala dishes delicious! Not overpowering. Veal gorgonzola lick-the-plate worthy. Staff was friendly and solicitous.
Great customer service! So warm and welcoming. I?m not from this area of the country, and I?ve quickly noticed a different level of customer service and friendliness is acceptable here, but the staff at Ida?s shattered all those conceived notions and I waspleasantly surprised the moment I walked in the door. I was already thoroughly impressed and then I tasted the food. Delicious!Ida?s Restaurant delivered in every way. Will definitely return again before I leave.
Broccoli Alfredo was dry and the pasta stuck together. Also, lasagna noodles were tough and actually crunchy in parts. Couldn?t cut the lasagna with a fork. Had to saw with a knife! Looked like someone left it under the salamander too long! Sadly, won?t begoing back. Waste of money!
We really wanted to love this place. All the of the hoopla and word-of-mouth...everything was positive about this place. We started with the stuffed mushroom caps as an appetizer, which contained crumbled sausage with Fontinella cheese. We detectedno cheese whatsoever, but they were still decent. Then came the oregano. Most every true Italian restaurant I've been to doesnot put oregano in their marinara sauce or meat sauce. Different sauces perhaps, including pizza sauce (I actually make mypizza sauce this way). It's so pungent and can take over any marinara or meat sauce. The chicken parm was breaded and actuallyquite flavorful, moist, and tender and the portion size was decent. My veal parm was pounded into oblivion and had no breadingon it. It spread out into a decent sized piece (which got lost in the sauce), but was so thin it had to have been a small pieceof veal to begin with. I would like to go back and try something that doesn't involve their red sauce.
A delicious Italian in Newport/Middletown. The food is very, very tasty, whether chicken or noodles. In typical American fashion, you sit in a larger room that isn't really divided. Nevertheless, it is very pleasant. A reservation may be necessary. The staff is super friendly and the prices are relatively good. Note for German travelers who are not used to it: As with many restaurants in the region, the tap water or ice cubes contain some chlorine. This is not for everyone! If necessary, cancel your order for ice cubes or order bottled water, which, in contrast, is subject to a charge.
