not for many years here, but wow, what a beautiful place. excellent home cooked eating. steak was what I wanted. other thoroughly enjoyed a cheesy bacon topped burger, sausage n’ mash, plus huh and mushroom stroganoff (special). desserts had to die. reasonable prices. great fire-roaring. friendly staff and fast service. What else could they ask for? in any case back View all feedback. What steel 76 doesn't like about Half Way House:
The fish and chips were tasty, but the fish was not very good. The prawn cocktail was bland and needed more sauce. Some background music would have been nice, and the staff were not very welcoming. View all feedback.

read moreHalfway House offers a varied dining experience, with reviews reflecting a blend of satisfaction and disappointment. Highlights include delicious meals, generous portions, and a welcoming atmosphere, particularly noted during Sunday roasts and classic pub fare like ham, egg, and chips. However, service inconsistency mars the experience, with mentions of unwelcoming staff and a lifeless ambiance detracting from the overall enjoyment. While some patrons praise the food quality and friendly service, others express frustration over bland dishes and the lack of a vibrant atmosphere. The restaurant’s charm lies in its potential, but improvement in service is essential for a true pub experience.
