We d... read more My Hubby and I (and two sweet little pups) stayed in Metropolis on the way to Florida. We were in the most beautiful Super 8 and needed a hearty breakfast. We decided to eat at Rubes and we were impressed with mine! First, it is the only one in the city without Superman references. Obviously a favourite for locals, there was excellent service, fast food and a beautiful ambience. Very recommended for everyone!

Never a good sign… We were seated by a very friendly waitress th... read more We’re from out of town and were a bit leery when we pulled up. There were ZERO cars in the lot. Never a good sign… We were seated by a very friendly waitress that made us feel right at home, she took our order and we watched as the open sign was turned off. I asked our waitress if they were closing and she said “yes, we close at noon on Saturdays.” See, we had walked in at 11:57 and I felt horrible. Despite having been ready to clean up and leave they served us one of the best breakfasts I’ve had since my Gma use to make them for me. Great place, great food and an absolutely amazing staff.
