Unfortunately underwhelming. We made reservations for 9 a.m. on Saturday, completely unnecessary, as the place was empty except 1 other table of 2 very quiet women. I also understand that bottles of wine are always sold at a premium, but a $900 bill for the same bottle that I have for $300 (as verified by Vivino) in the supermarket was a bit silly. The food was...fine and the staff was clearly boring as there was no work to do, bad things, but they were friendly and attentive.

Extremely good food, innovative recipes. The service was friendly, knowledgeable and quick not always the case in Mérida. We enjoyed our dinner at Pinuela very much.

Excellent food for great price! You can’t beat the value based on what other finer dining locations charge. Highly recommended! Try the short rib, salads and fried octopus.

On my hunt for solo appropriate restaurants I followed a recommendation to eat at Pinuela. Upon arriving the staff warmly greeted me and confirmed that it would be just a seating for 1. After being seated, the server noticed that I was having problems getting online and came to assist. After ordering my cocktail the server noticed that I was having difficulties reading the menu and the manager came it assist. Some if the items did not translate from Spanish to English. He asked if I wanted an English menu, which I declined I am currently learning Spanish so I was using google to translate. This was a recommended teaching method, and by all accounts to seems to be helping. . I narrowed down my choices with the assistance of the staff. Ended up ordering the Pork Belly appetizer, the Short Ribs and cheesecake for dessert. Let me say now, at no time during my meal did I feel rushed to finish so they could turn the table! The Pork Belly was enough to share with another and was well presented and flavorful. The Short Ribs were tender and with the accompanying risotto a perfect duo. The cheesecake was slightly lacking but was good none the less. The atmosphere of the restaurant was quiet and welcoming. I was prepared for a noisy music blaring establishment based on some if the other reviews and found quite the opposite. I felt comfortable and at ease and will return to try both breakfast and lunch service.
