The only cheap, excellent lunch spot we've found within a five-minute walk of the main square in Merida. Bonus points for the very friendly and efficient service and American-diner-like setting (barstools and all). You'll find lots of locals mixed in with a few tourists. We've tried the grilled and fried fillets (90 pesos a piece, and each comes with rice and salad) and the octopus tostada (115 pesos) and loved them. Cold chelas and big, glass bottles of Coke.
Love the El Marlin Azul. The food, location, price, and service are great. The atmosphere isn't what I go for.
MarlinAzul has an authentic vibe nothing pretentious just good seafood and a simple setting, and very inexpensive for what you get. They have authentic Mayan preparations as well as fried. It’s all good.
The pulpo tacos were very good indeed, probably the best things we have eaten in Mexico thus far! All the rest was excellent as well as reasonably priced. Great spot.
This is a very local hole in the wall making delicious and reasonably priced (for the portion sizes) seafood. The fried octopus ceviche was simply outstanding, like none I had tried before, as was the fish ceviche. Friendly service. Pity we didn’t have more time to come back and try their other dishes.
