Although having reserved we was seated just beside the furnace that heated the place (inclusive the two neighboring rooms), it was around 35 degrees Celsius – which would have been ok if we was in beach outfit. The starter was nice, hot soup... The tap water was also very tasty and necessary (and pricy). The meat with the main course was ok, but very scarce – like a taster. We actually expected a second main, but it was followed by a shared teller with rousted chestnuts and a shared peace of filo pastry. After 3 weeks round tour in Italy it was the most expensive dinner. Same price as the 8 course dinner in Marche with matched wine (cheaper than tap water here). We didn’t understand this huge gap in prices and what was performed. Having googled afterwards we noticed that the place was mentioned on national TV and expects that they had too much success, and have suffocated hereafter.

Both Alex and Reinhild are friendl... read more We stayed for one week over Christmas in one of the two holiday apartments that Alex and Reinhild rent. We had a lovely time. Both Alex and Reinhild are friendly, generous and uncomplicated. You could not find better hosts. We can only encourage anyone to stay here and share their kindness in equal terms. They gave us our space but if we needed something they were quick to respond. The apartment is warm and has everything one would need to feel at home and prepare a meal. The view is fantastic. The food and drink in the restaurant are great too and should be tried. The Greiterhof has a few animals as well as a sandpit with toys etc. It is a place for children to play and discover. One thing to consider is that the drive up to the Greiterhof will take you at least 15 minutes from Merano because you are driving up about 600 meter above the level of the town. This was no issue for us though and we went and explored the valley and the neighboring valleys during our day trips. That drive up does get you this beautiful view after all. Alex and Reinhild, thank you for your hospitality and all the best for your family. If we are in the area again, we will come by and if we have time stay with you.

We stopped for just one night in a camper, but could totally see us coming back for longer.
