The only waiter who was paying attention and had a good overlook wasn’t allowed to take orders but he always informed the other colleagues. It is a real bummer the restaurant is located in the center of Merano and their food is very good but the service made the experience just average. We both ordered an appetizer and a second course. The appetizer already had the size of a „normal“ dish. So be careful if you want to order both, I had no space for desert left
The menu looked interesting and we decided to go there Monday night. When I showed my white United States CDC vaccination card (3x vaccinated) and US drivers license the Cameriere said I needed to show him my green pass. I explained that we don’t have a green pass in the United States and he said this was not true and claimed that all of his American friends had green passes. He said he could not allow us to dine there without a green pass. I was stunned because during our Italy trip this was the first time that the US vaccination card was not accepted. I looked it up online on the Italian Health Ministry website and it clearly states that the white CDC card is equivalent to the green pass. It’s one thing to not know the rules but another to make up a story. It makes you look unprofessional and gives your establishment a bad reputation. Apparently Americans are not welcome at Roemerkeller in Meran. I’m glad we didn’t dine here because we got the best pizza and Service at Pizzeria Gaston.
