Bob Evans - Mentor
Bob Evans
Description
Bob Evans offers a mixed but generally positive dining experience. Many praise the friendly, efficient staff, easy online ordering, and reliable food quality with family-friendly amenities like kids’ menus and high chairs. Popular items include the Thanksgiving sandwiches and fresh coffee. However, some guests report inconsistent food preparation—particularly with chicken noodle soup lacking broth or overly peppered—and occasional order errors. Service experiences vary from attentive to frustrating, though management handles complaints with refunds or solutions. Overall, Bob Evans remains a solid, convenient choice for casual dining, balancing dependable favorites with room for improvement in consistency and service.

Good food at a good price and good portions with fast and friendly service. Not much more one could ask for. Since 5 is perfect and only God is perfect I can't in good conscience give a 5. However I would give a 4.9 if it were available. Service: Dine in Price per person: $10–20 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
At 2:00, we stopped for lunch and waited 10 minutes for a table, even though there were several open. I assume it was because there were only a couple of servers. It then took 15 minutes for someone to take our orders. My husband's steak tips were dry and overcooked. The home fries he ordered were cold and tasteless. I ordered potato soup and biscuits. The biscuits were cold and more like large croutons, pretty crunchy when I bit into them. They were also cold and quiet dry, like they were left over from breakfast. I the soup was ok, but I've had better. It was a cold rainy day and the soup was hot, making it the best part of the meal. I only ate about half of the soup and asked for a container. After 10 minutes the waitress brought our check, but no container. We called her over 15 minutes later and reminded her about the container, she laughed and apologized before bringing the container a few minutes later. We normally frequent a Bob Evans in Willoughby Ohio and have always had a pleasant experience. We won't be returning to the Mentor location. When it comes to restaurant chains, Bob Evans is definitely a solid choice. I had a great experience there, enjoying delicious food accompanied by excellent service. The quality of the dining experience seems to stem from good management and dedicated staff. Overall, I was very pleased and would definitely recommend it. Food rating: 5/5.
Overall, everything was good, but to be fair, the chicken soup on the first two days had barely any broth. Everything else was satisfactory. On the third day, the chicken noodle soup had plenty of broth, as it should, but the black pepper was overwhelming and made it difficult to enjoy. It felt more like a chore to eat it. On day four, the chicken soup was similar but spicier due to the excessive black pepper. Additionally, they forgot to include the dinner rolls. When I called to address this, I was told I could pick up the rolls, but since I ordered for delivery, I couldn't leave my house. They offered me a $3 refund and suggested I add more rolls to my next order. It took some time to process the refund, but they followed through, which I appreciated. Overall, despite the setbacks, I will order from them again.
