At South on Beale, dining experiences can be a mixed bag. While some patrons rave about the vibrant atmosphere and attentive service, others express frustration regarding limited vegan options and the staff's uncertainty about menu ingredients. A lack of clear communication creates a sense of awkwardness for those seeking dietary accommodations. Despite these challenges, the restaurant's charming setting and eclectic menu remain appealing, making it a worthwhile choice for casual outings. Overall, prospective diners should be prepared for a blend of delightful ambiance and potential service hiccups, particularly for those with specific dietary needs.

had an incredible experience in the south of beale. I can't imagine how hard it is to use tables now while wearing a mask in 100 degrees heat, and the two servers that we had amazing. they were friendly and attentive. I could not recommend this place anymore. thanks south when beale. View all feedback.
What User dislikes about Sob Downtown:
the personal seems to be insecure what is “vegan” and not in the position to reach consens over the ingredients of the elements on the menu. you feel like you're hard to ask for clearing. poor service. it was unpleasant. pity as it is a beautiful room. View all feedback.
The staff seem to be uncertain as to what “vegan” is and unable to reach consensus on the ingredients of the items on the menu. You feel like you are being difficult asking for clarification. Poor service. It was awkward. Too bad, as it’s a lovely room.
The vegan options are limited. All the salad dressings are non vegan and possibly not vegetarian, they have fish sauce in them. The zaka bowl can be made vegan by deleting the egg and dressing. I sub soy sauce for the dressing and it was lovely. You can veganize some dishes. When I asked about vegan dishes I was told the only thing that was vegan was the lettuce.
I used the app and found this place. We drove ten miles through traffic to get there, just to find that they have no vegan options other than a green salad if you ask for no cheese
The food was good and the drinks were excellent, but the prices were a bit on the high side and the service was sluggish. I went during a holiday, and it seemed like some employees might have called in sick or just didn’t show up. Despite the less-than-ideal service, the staff present were very friendly and helpful. If I were paying for myself, I would likely choose a different place to save some money, but if you’re there for work, it’s worth considering.
Seth is SO friendly and nice everyone on staff was actually! They have wonderful gluten free options as well since I am celiac and have to. All gluten free options are marked clearly and the staff is knowledgeable about gluten free which is STELLAR. Absolutely will be coming back. We got the general tsos cauliflower, grilled pineapple steak and the enchilada bowl. All amazing and ALL GLUTEN FREE! It is a miracle when I find stuff locally that is gluten free and they knocked the food out of the park.
