Reviews - Automatic Slim's
Reviews summary
Visitors to this restaurant have had mixed experiences, with some highlighting serious issues related to undercooked food and poor service, while others have praised the friendly and efficient service. The menu seems to offer decent options for brunch, although some diners have found the food to be average and nothing truly outstanding. However, there are standout dishes like the southern fried chicken picatta and the key lime cake that have left a positive impression on customers. Overall, the atmosphere and charm of the restaurant, along with the affordable drink specials, make it a worthwhile brunch spot.
Was Debisree Ray at Automatic Slim's a mag?
We stopped by for the weekend brunch here. It was pretty packed and, however we didn’t have to wait. I ordered the mimosa and ‘Three little pigs omelette’. My husband ordered ‘second street vegetable frittata’. The omelette was excellent. It was served with a good portion of fried potato. The frittata was rather underwhelming, and smaller in portion. Overall a decent place, and a bit overpriced too. View all feedback.
What Garry Reynolds dislikes about Automatic Slim's:
oddly in this opposite there are very few places to do brunch that we could find. So we followed here two days. the first thing that stands out is the friendly service, it was a bit sloouuuow on our second day there but there were only two young ladies who were way more tables than they should. the people row on this place, so they expect to wait. Eating is okay. I had the breakfast casserole/bacon day 1 and blueberr... View all feedback.

Ate here while my son was running the full marathon for the St. Jude Classic. The place was packed yet we were easily seated (party of 4) in under 20 minutes. Our server was outstanding and attentive. My meal was fresh, hot, and delicious. And myyoungest even enjoyed a quick nap from all the walking ????.
On holiday in Memphis for the week and discovered Automatic Slims. Fantastic range of food options. I opted for the Blackened Salmon Eggs Benedict which was delicious! As brits abroad we also had to try the chicken waffles with raspberry butter?. sorryAmericans but you are on your own with that random selection. (It?s like having Birdseye potato waffles with KFC and jam on). That aside we enjoyed the experience so much we went back the following day and had Crab Cake Benedict and Automatic slimsOmelette. As part of their brunch deal they did Bloody Mary?s and Mimosas for only $3! This is a bold statement but I?m goingto make it?.. Best? Bloody ? Mary? Ever!!!! They were delicious and a total bargain at $3! It was a lovely relaxed restaurantand the waiter was fantastic. If I remember correctly I think she was called Carlita and she was great! If you are in DowntownMemphis, check them out!
As for the side dishes, the hushpuppies were delicious, and I loved the chunks of onion and corn. The macaroni and cheese was incredibly cheesy and gooey, with perfectly tender macaroni. The bacon flavor really came through, though the truffle was more of a subtle hint, similar to the blue cheese in the potatoes. I understand that balancing flavors can be challenging for each preference. If you enjoy just a hint of flavor, it's perfect; I would have preferred a bit more truffle myself. Overall, it was a wonderful evening filled with great music, and the staff was on point. I definitely won't wait as long to return!
We visited this restaurant for weekend brunch and found it to be quite busy, but fortunately, we didn't have to wait. I ordered a mimosa and the “Three Little Pigs Omelette,” while my husband chose the “Second Street Vegetable Frittata.” The omelette was fantastic, accompanied by a generous serving of fried potatoes. However, the frittata fell a bit short and was smaller in size. Overall, it's a decent spot, although a bit overpriced.

Probably the best brunch spot in the whole city honestly. Me and my family come here whenever we come downtown and want a top shelf martini for cheap or want brunch definitely recommend!
The food and service was amazing. It’s definitely a great place to eat, drink, and hang out
The brisket Benedict and the chicken and waffles were delicious. Although the cinnamon bun waffle was good, for $12 I was pretty annoyed that it was so small compared to all the other dishes we got that were $12-14. I ended up having to share mine with my kiddo because it was still very hungry after the waffle.

My husband told me to write a review after our experience at Automatic Slim 's, which was amazing by the way, so here goes. We were greeted promptly at the door even though the restaurant was busy. Everyone was very polite. As I read previous reviews, I saw 1 that stood out to me of a person by the name of Leslie Craft with a complaint of the manager. It amazed me how she wrote such a negative review when all she was told is there is a wait just as my husband and myself and others were told. Upon further notice, I realized she has only written negative reviews about everywhere she has visited. This is coming from a young woman that was seated around us and clearly said she told a guy to 'suck her.... '. It 's sad to have great workers working hard doing there job and to see inconsiderate guest use platforms to try and disrupt a business because they feel as though they are better than others. My husband and my overall experience with the food and service was amazing. The only problem I would have is that the next time someone like that enters, please ask them to leave so the rest of us may enjoy our meal in peace! Thank you Automatic Slim 's for the wonderful food and great service! And thank you young man for maintaining your composure!
As for the blue cheese mashed potatoes, they had just a hint of blue cheese flavor, so if that's a concern for you, don’t worry—it’s very subtle. Personally, I would have enjoyed a bit more of that flavor. The side dishes were good as well. The hushpuppies were tasty, especially with the chunks of onion and kernels of corn. The mac and cheese was super cheesy and gooey, with perfectly tender macaroni. I could definitely taste the bacon, but the truffle flavor was very faint, much like the blue cheese in the potatoes. I understand it can be challenging to cater to everyone's taste preferences. If you prefer a lighter touch, they got it just right; I would have liked a bit more truffle. Overall, it was a wonderful evening. The music was great, and the staff was attentive. I won’t wait so long to return next time!
The decor is charming, with a distinctive Memphis vibe. I enjoyed a delicious breakfast that was well-seasoned; I had the vegetable frittata, and the portions were quite generous. The coffee was decent, and they also offer a selection of bar drinks. The wait staff was excellent.
Slim's was truly a lifesaver for us! We attempted to dine at three other places that were completely full on a Saturday night, but we couldn’t be happier with our final choice! Their menu was fantastic, and everything we ordered was delicious. The cheese grits were the best we’ve ever had! The service was quick and friendly as well.

We were a group of four, and everyone ordered a different dish. Everything was exceptional! The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was wonderful.
No, I won't be returning. This was my first time visiting for brunch, and when I arrived at the door, I noticed they automatically add a 20% gratuity...
I had one of the best-prepared pieces of redfish I've enjoyed since my last trip to New Orleans. This was a dining experience worth mentioning after the last competition.
