Love this place. I work locally. I love my coffee and this is the place to go. Staff are prompt, friendly and the food is excellent. The gent behind this place restores my faith in humanity- many good deeds done for the community and for those who don't have sleeve tattoos, ride vespas and are prepared to pay for awful coffee @inflated prices View all feedback.
This place has shut down, after the owner took all the money he owed his staff and suppliers and pissed off overseas with it. The 5/5 is for all the staff and loyal customers that kept the place going despite his selfishness.
LOVE THIS PLACE And PLEASE don't change the rustic decor! A great place if you want a change from the characterless steel and glass clones so many cafes are these days. The rustic feel reminds you of the friendly cafes of the hey day of Fitzroy, Collingwood, Newtown and Glebe. The decor is what makes it UNIQUE ! I also found it clean. The service was fast enough and in fact they were kind enough to made me a beautiful bacon and eggs brekky even though they'd officially just closed the kitchen (I was despo! . The staff might not wear hipster beards and the latest fashions but they are lovely people! The locals love this place and regularly hang out and chat with friends sipping a glass of red, which I also enjoyed. The coffee was great too. If you want an old school style cafe with good food, friendly people and interesting, atmospheric decore, this is the place to go. One of my faves in Melbourne !
Old school perfectly ok. I had passed by the cafe on my rare (nowadays forays into Collingwood but probably wasn 't particularly attracted by its external appearance or the name of the place (although you certainly remember it . My partner 's mum offered to take us there on a recent visit to the area as she had gone a few times while running an event nearby. My partner and I really enjoyed our $10 meals (the deal included coffee any kind you want . As part of the deal they offered sausage roll salad, pie salad etc PLUS the coffee. Not bad for pricey ol ' Melbs nowadays. We went for the 'home made ' lasagne, while my partner 's mum had the soup. The salad we got was a rice salad which seemed an odd combination but it was all perfectly fine. The cafe probably isn 't the trendiest in the area but it 's not overpriced seemed to attract quite a few people. The tables around us were all full everyone seemed pretty happy with what they got as far as I could tell. The service was friendly, not intrusive unpretentious. Very pleasant. The food wasn 't outstandingly memorable, but it was ok and I would happily eat there again. If you want good value something down to earth compared to the latecomers in the area this could be your spot! :
Chill Out. I also do not understand all the negative reviews of this place. I am actually really happy to have stumbled across it one rainy day. The service is friendly, prompt and warm. Yes, the place could probably do with a makeover but stop complaining about how thin the booths are and the old ceilings and focus on the **** good prices and delicious food! Not to mention how big the portions are and that everything is made from scratch in the house. Gluttony also caters to vegans. I have never been let down at Gluttony and have been going there for food and coffee for a year. This place is perfect for a student, someone very hungry and people that appreciate fair prices and well established venues.
Yummmmm. The first thing that drew me to this location, was the interesting indoor/outdoor seating. allowing a coffee and cigarette to go down smoothly in an illusion of indoor comfort. after frequenting for drinks, i tried the breakfast recently. and oh my, it was delicious! I love it!
