There was nothing horribly wrong with it, I ordeded eggs on toast with avo and mushrooms, and a peppermint tea and the total was nearly $30.I was left feeling ripped off over the fact I had to pay $5 for about 10 small mushrooms. Overall it was very average in that there was nothing wrong with it but nothing noteworthy either.Basically, I'm sure there are plenty of better options than this is Melbourne, the land of cafes.

Pancakes doughy, baked eggs dry and unappealing; overcrowded and hot in the morning sun. No thanks.

From the moment I booked, the communication was super organised — every li... read more I had my birthday dinner at Gilson South Yarra over a week ago in their private room. From the moment I booked, the communication was super organised — every little detail and selection was confirmed ahead of time, which made everything so easy. The private room itself was stunning, had a balcony which added such a nice touch. The staff were so accommodating and attentive all night, and I loved that you could connect your own music through their Sonos system using the iPad in the room — such a fun and personal detail. The food was amazing with perfect portion sizes, and everything came out beautifully. Overall, the whole experience felt effortless and really special. Couldn’t recommend Gilson enough for a birthday or any kind of celebration. I can't remember the lovely staff member who came up to me at the end of the night, but she made the whole night very smooth sailing for me! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
