When one thinks of breakfast it's all eggs bacon and sausage, so it's refreshing when a cafe takes the humble breakfast and gives it a gentle twist. Dock dot is situated in the Royal Domain Plaza and the space has seen many incarnations over the years but I can safely say this one is the best. The breakfast menu doesn't stray to much away from your traditional offerings but adds it's own unique twist that you are lead to believe you are experiencing something new. So with that I can highly recommend the Dock Dot big breakfast. Whilst this is essentially a classic bacon and eggs they have managed to change just s few things that make it a tad special. The addition of grilled chorizo sausage, with perfectly grilled long bacon, sauté red onion and capsicum, spicy tomato relish and topped off with two poached eggs. Topped it off with a freshly squeezed orange juice and you're bound to start the day off the perfect way. The only negative is that the prices are slightly inflated for a cafe but you can forgive them because of the quality of the dishes. Look forward to eating breakfast here more often.
I live in the same building as Dock Dot Cafe. Over the years it has undergone many changes at the hands of different owners but the current owner and his staff are the best. Ken loves his cafe and has put a great deal of effort into refurbishing the fittings and the menu. Cleanliness is high on Ken's agenda which is nice to know.Office workers and locals keep the cafe busy during week days ( open from about 7 - 4) but Saturdays are a different story. Dock Dots' all day breakfast attract regulars and those just out and about.Coffee is always a personal choice but I'm very happy with Dock Dot ( I haven't figured out the name yet). Sometimes it can be a little slow if you arrive when a crowd arrives. In addition to the usual cafe fare like focaccias & eggs benedict , you can enjoy hot soup in winter and salads of your choice, freshly made from the salad bar all year.Oh, and in case you're wondering, I am a local but no free coffee was involved in this review. :)
