We visited BIO by D.O.C in Carlton, Victoria, Australia and tried their arancini, lasagne, and tiramisu. The lasagne was excellent, but the other dishes were just okay. Unfortunately, the tiramisu did not meet my high expectations.

Nestled in a vibrant neighborhood, this restaurant offers a mixed dining experience that leaves diners torn between high expectations and reality. While the cocktail selection and attentive service receive praise, the food often falls short on flavor and portion size for the price. Standout dishes include the tartare and beetroot pasta, both notably flavorful, while the lasagne garners appreciation. The tiramisu, a much-anticipated treat, varies significantly in texture and richness, leading to disappointment among some. Overall, though there are moments of culinary delight, a stronger focus on seasoning and consistency could enhance the experience.
I saw a movie in the neighbourhood and decided to come here first to dinner. I wanted to give this place a chance to redeem after my previous experience, the $28 for a minuscule that served the moderate lasagne. open, to have changed my mind, this time I ordered the Beetroot-Cassarecce with mushrooms and truffle paste 31) and it was pretty, and the side of the broccolini with Macadamia mousse was also 16). However, they were still f*cking expensive for the size. Vegan weine were not marked on the list, so I asked about them and ordered a glass. while eating this time was better, but by no means exceptional, the wee never arrived and frankly I felt that we were somehow forgotten. this could be understandable to a busy evening meal, but I was also abandoned sitting unattended at the quiet lunchtime I was last there. I don't want to go back.
Excellent, friendly, attentive service. I’m still thinking about the amaretto sour I had it was so good. My friend had the arancino as a starter. It was beautifully presented and she said it was delicious. Next time I will try that! She also had the broccolini with macadamia mousse as a side and said that was great too. My husband and I started with the tartare. He likes capers a lot so he enjoyed that more than I did. I ordered a beetroot pasta with mushroom as my main and it was very flavourful. I couldn’t resist the tiramisu for dessert. The top decorative layer seemed to be pure chocolate which I loved. This is a lovely spot if you are looking for something a bit nicer than normal.
Wonderful food, great service and great atmosphere!
Went here months and months ago, and I still can’t stop thinking about how amazing that lasagna was. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner
