Description

SST was a quick coffee stop for one reviewer after a late night, but they were unimpressed by the hipster vibe and lack of decaf options. Another reviewer found the food at SST disappointing and overpriced, with subpar service and incorrect orders. In contrast, Street Trader offered a good coffee and friendly atmosphere, making it a popular spot on Sunday mornings. Despite some negative experiences at SST, one reviewer enjoyed a delicious meal and cold drinks at Street Trader, highly recommending the cafe/bar. Finally, an impromptu visit to a small ice cream shop on Smith Street resulted in a pleasant surprise for one reviewer, with appetizing food and friendly service that left a positive impression. Overall, these reviews highlight mixed experiences at different Melbourne eateries.

I could have overlooked the insipid tea and the fact that the meal that came out was not what I ordered (oily hashbrowns instead of sourdough), but the price seemed exorbitant for something that was barely acceptable. When I mentioned that it was not what I ordered, I was given the excuse that the waitress was new. How is this my problem? And why should I have to pay for extras when I didn't even order them? The mushrooms were dry and tasted like cardboard. There was a hair in my eggs. The portions were smaller than normal, which is actually a very positive thing. But overall, it was disappointing. It had been a whim and an experiment, but I won't go there again.

Had lunch yesterday with friends. We had a couple of cold Mountain Goat Steam Ales, which is on tap, Trader Burger, which was delicious, margarita pizza and a daily Salad. Everything was perfect. Noticed that there is also a great courtyard out the back which looks perfect for having a couple of drinks on a hot summers day! Would highly recommend checking this great cafe/bar out!

Looking for a quick coffee after a night out, SST was the only real option in the area. If you aren't a hipster, don't bother. And unbelievably, no decaf!! In a city like Melbourne which thrives on its coffee culture, to be met with a blank look when asking for a decaf latte is unforgivable. And to have to ask for milk after ordering a tea...well!!! The bearded hipsters behind the bar were more interested in talking to each other than looking after the customers. The food we saw going to the other customers looked ok, but I won't be rushing back there for my smashed avo and short black!

The street trader served a good cup coffee with atmosphere. this was a busy place on a Sunday morning and made a good deal that was understandable as it had an atmosphere and a good service.

Walk on a Saturday afternoon along the smith street and stumble on this little ice cream that looked inviting. friendly welcome and quickly sit with menus. bright refreshing decor that feels comfortable and is quite small. there were several things that looked to appetize on the menu so that we. a entree of croquettes, and for the first we had washed the chicken tacos and salat with a beer and glass wein. the food surpassed the expectations and was very good, only enough to meet the place. all in all, we thought that the whole experience was good, the service friendly and we would return definately.
