Babka bakery in Melbourne is a hidden gem that offers a taste of Eastern Europe with a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. Known for their Russian-inspired specialties, the savory dumplings are a must-try, especially the mushroom and potato options topped with sour cream. The complimentary bread before the main meal is outstanding, and the cake selection accompanied by high quality coffee and fresh whipped cream is a treat. The almond croissant is a standout pastry, divine in flavor. The lemon tart and chocolate cake are consistent favorites, while the signature chocolate babka is a heavenly delight. The cafe may be small and crowded, but the delicious pastries and cakes make it worth a visit. Other menu items like beef and cabbage rolls are also highly recommended. Babka bakery is a perfect spot for a sweet treat and great coffee in a homely setting, loved by locals and visitors alike.

Was Leila B at Babka Cafe a mag?
4.5 stars, solely for their almond croissant. The other pastries I tried were very good too, but man oh man, if you’re going to try anything from babka, it needs to be the almond croissant. Divine!.

What Manu P dislikes about Babka Cafe:
You asked for feedback in the other reviews for why this place no longer has what we loved about it. 1 NO DUMPLING! 2. NO LOX ON RYE. 3. THE STAFF LOOK HARRIED AND BORSD. We sat for 15 minutes waiting to order and were told no food available. Might have been helpful for the person who sat us at the table to tell us that. Never coming back. While there were always issues with the old Babka. Attitude mainly. Now it is,... View all feedback.

Hands down one of the best bakeries in Melbourne. This Russian inspired little bakery cafe has a number of specialities which I love top of the list being the dumplings. These are European style, savoury dumplings; you can choose between mushroom, potato, or a mixture of both (my personal favourite), topped off with the all important sour cream. These dumplings need to be tasted to be believed, but not for the faint hearted if you prefer light meals.<br/ <br/ One thing I can't pass over is the complementary bread before the main meal. While often this might be heavy, rye style bread, it is outstanding. Served simply with some butter, the danger is that you'll eat it all and fill up before your main!<br/ <br/ I also need to give a shout out to the cake selection. There are usually several cakes of rotating flavours which, when accompanied by high quality Melbourne coffee and fresh whipped cream, literally go down a treat.<br/ <br/ This place is actually tiny you'll feel like a nineteenth century gold minor scrambling to get your hands the last known mining licenses so you do feel like you're tripping over one another. That said, it just adds to the atmosphere and the perception of scarcity for the produce.

Amazing tarts, really delicious. Their tart's crust is crispy and light, at a perfect thickness. The ratio of filling to pastry is also well balanced. Absolutely loved it will definitely come back to try all their different baked goods!
