Quarterdeck - Maynard
Quarterdeck
Description
The Basile brothers established the Quarterdeck in Maynard in 1981, after years of fishing and selling fish. John, a commercial fisherman for two decades, operated his own boat out of Scituate, while Frank began fishing alongside him early on. The brothers eventually decided to focus on selling fish, opening a convenience store in Waltham with a bakery and deli where they sold fresh fish that quickly gained popularity. In 1978, they purchased a building in Maynard, completely renovating it over two years. With invaluable experience gained from working at Legal Seafood's in Chestnut Hill, the brothers opened the Quarterdeck in 1981. Initially a fish market run by brothers Chris, Frank, Steve, and John, the business gradually expanded to include a restaurant and catering service. Additional expansions in 1988 resulted in a building housing the fish market, restaurant, and catering business.
