Description

Tucked in Mattoon, this lunch-only Floribbean spot serves imaginative, high-quality dishes—think blackened or fried grouper, Creole-influenced specials and standout crab cakes—amid a tropical, plant-filled room with soft jazz. Order at the counter from a refrigerated drink display, then relax as food is brought to your table. Prices run a bit high for the town and service uses paper plates and plastic cutlery; hours are limited to weekdays 11–2 with orders cut off early, but the inventive flavors make it a true hidden gem.

This restaurant is truly a hidden gem. It's open only Monday to Friday from 11 AM to 2 PM, but if you can make it, it's worth the visit. While it might be a bit pricey at around $20 to $30 per person, that's reflective of the area. The quality of the food, however, is outstanding! The menu offers unique options, and their specials are amazing. This isn’t your typical soup, sandwich, and salad spot; everything they serve is on another level. It's definitely a place I would eat at every week!

This restaurant is one of the best places to eat. I've been enjoying their food for over 10 years, and I've never had a bad meal. I absolutely love it!

Finding a delicious grouper sandwich in central Illinois can be a challenge, but Bimini offers a fantastic lunchtime option for those craving it. You can choose to have your sandwich lightly fried or blackened, and they provide both dine-in and carry-out options. Plus, there are plenty of other tasty dishes to choose from. I highly recommend giving it a try!

Love the food here and the people. Lunch was amazing and I got some fresh dried bay leaves from their tree!

This is such a break from the same old coles county restaurants. Nothing in this county comes close to what you can get here. The flavors are light and breezy yet bold. The prices are high but for good reason, and the smell of this place hits you like a truck when you walk in, in the best way possible. As complaints go, the best one you can have is I want more food at more hours of the day. Hard to take friends here when we all work 9-5s. Doesn’t affect my score though, as the food is so good it’s worth the planning it takes to go there.
