Visited here with family for a bite of dinner. The place has a great Family Zone all set up for kids - with TV, play area, toys & video games. The food is good - had the garlic bread and spinach & ricotta ravioli. Defo recommend. View all feedback.
What Daniella Hills doesn't like about Backyard Italian:
If you are looking for a family friendly pub this could suffice. was expecting more of an old school Italian restaurant from the 70s. The food is average, had the scotch fillet cooked well the house salad dressing is the Kraft Italian and the pepper sauce is gravox with pepper corn's through it. Besides the pizza selection on the menu and four choices of pasta it's not really Italian, more of a pub grub. The staff are... View all feedback.
This little place is a wonderful oasis in the middle of Maroubra JunctionThe food is better than your typical pub/food.
Came with some work colleagues on a Friday night. If you are prepared to accept that you will be dining in a very family oriented dining room, you won't have anything to complain about. The place was full of families and kids running around and as expected became noisy. If you want a quiet non family orientated dinner, don't come here. I had the duck, which was not too bad but it was slightly over cooked. Everyone else at the table was quite happy with their meals. Wine was good. Have choice of small or larger size. The service was pleasant and helpful. Overall not a bad experience
Attended with my family & friends for dinner and were welcomed at the door and shown to our table. The floor manager directed us to various parts of the restaurant as we had not been there before. It is very family friendly with various play areas to keep the kids amused. Staff were friendly and bar staff efficient but with limited selection. They also serve alcohol which was great !!Would go there again but wont order the crispy pork belly as it was rubbery (skin), rest was nicely done.
Visited the restaurant after hearing good things but sadly disappointed with the food. Staff were friendly and can't complain about the bar service but food left a lot to be desired. Entrees were ok (garlic bread pretty tasteless) but main course spaghetti marinara was poor - tasted like prepackaged sauce with really chewy prawns (not fresh) and not convinced of freshness of other seafood either so had to leave it and the crispy" pork belly was -soggy? Advised staff when collected plates that some food was substandard but wasn't offered refund or anything. I don't think we will be going back.
Went here tonight after hearing good reviews and it was possibly the worst meal I've eaten in 5 years in Sydney, I'm sorry to say.I had crispy skin duck on the waiters recommendation. It came out soggy skinned, cremated and as dry as a sock, although it promised duck jus!!! The only nice thing on the plate was the sweet potato mash, the peas were hard and the wilted spinach looked like it had been wilted for a month!!!Now mine was the better dish, lets explain my husbands seafood marinara......... a thick stodge of overcooked pasta in a tomato sauce, the calamari was like his bikes inner tube but more rubbery, the one prawn was so over cooked it was laughable and the four mussels (two empty shells) you could have fired as pellets. We left 2 three quarter full plates on the table and not one person approached us to see how the meal was. You have to pay on ordering, very clever on their part, they already have your money!!!We will not be returning there.
