How can gelati, sorbetto and caffe cost 14 Euro in a rural part of Italy??? Bad service too. Had to request a napkin!

The staff... read more We visited yesterday (Monday) with two friends new to the Lake, having had to reorganise our reservation twice due to summer squalls on the the lake.. The staff,as usual, were fabulous and matched by the food and wine every dish was a delight. Ai Frati gets the exact balance between exact service and relaxed easy Italian hospitality. If you eat from the Lake, the Land or the Sea you will not be disappointed , except when you have to leave. Giorgio Arrighini continues to be the best chef on the lake and his team and he make every visit a delight without doubt 6 Stars and great value for money for exceptional food and wine. Make a reservation, allow yourself plenty of time and enjoy a great dining experience in a beautiful setting. It is really a “ not to be missed”. Steve Bell

We were however not entire... read more Best make a reservation as the place is frequented also by locals. The restaurant offers a rich choice, and the dishes are very good. We were however not entirely satisfied as the staff seemed a bit stressed by the fact that both terrace as the inside were fully booked. The sommelier made good suggestions (excellent Franciacorta), but she forgot later on that we also selected a white wine. The staff was professional, but a bit reserved.

All dishes are excellent, excellent compositions, local ingredients, there is a menu with fish from the lake and a very interesting map of local wines. Like antipastas I recommend the palette with smoked fish of the lake in various type smoked. Also, there are very good scallops, tartar with shrimps and peaches and much more. Nice service, artistic serving of dishes and picturesque view from the lake! Bill for two persons with wine is about 100 Euro

We were... read more We visited the restaurant with a group of 8 and although our waitress was really lovely and helpful, the experience on the whole was very unimpressive. We were left for over 20 minutes before we were even given menus and we were left waiting time and time again, despite having asked for things more than once. The food was tasty, but not worth the price we paid, a tiny side portion of potatoes costing us 6 euro was particularly disappointing. We did have a fabulous view of the lake but in general, we would definitely not go back.
