What User doesn't like about Marca Trattoria:
A group of us went to Marca for dinner and were immediately impressed with the atmosphere and look of the restaurant; A comfortable and lively feel from start to finish. The service was great, as our waiter was friendly and helpful. The owner even sent around a complimentary house created cocktail to all the patrons, that some of our party partook and really enjoyed. A nice touch!! With that being said our food was g... View all feedback.

The three of us 'all' loved the ambiance, service and food of MarcaTrattoria in Markham... The service was well distributed, the food was delish and the ambiance was well decoder with perfectly balanced music. We are actually planning a dinner business trip stop this week at Marca's on our way to T.O.Two Big Thumbs Up!
We had been before and liked the atmosphere but I had not liked the steak but since it was a cut that I don't normally enjoy I decided to give them a second chance. We had made a reservation and they seated us in the corner of an L shaped banquette which was fine and we thought it was a good seat. The restaurant was quite empty so there was a lot of tables free. A party of 4 arrived and they were seated at the next table on the long side of the banquette - quite close to us. Then a party of 2 arrived and they were seated on the other side of us - literally boxing us in. WHY - I asked myself - when the rest of the place was pretty empty. I don't need this kind of cosiness. Even to get out we had to squeeze between their chairs. This is very poor judgement on the part of the hostess and shows a complete lack of training. The food is all over the place - this is supposed to be an Italian restaurant but IMO it isn't. I doubt if the chef is italian. We decide to split a caesar salad and a pizza which we often do. Salad was fine. Pizza not so much. The prosciutto was just thrown on without any cooking - yes I realize it's a cooked meat but it should still have some crispiness to it - couldn't even bite through it so we sent it back to be browned up. It was drizzled with so much balsamic that it totally overpowered the taste of everything which wasn't hard to do since the crust had absolutely no flavour. Lack of salt in the dough we think. I make my own prosciutto and arugula pizza and do a better job. Like I say though the menu is just all over the map. We have a limited number of restaurants in Markham so this was a disappointment on many levels.
If you enjoy a modern feel, and friendly intimate dining atmosphere, then this place if for you. While Markham is not readily known for fine Italian dining, this restaurant is a must to try if you are a foodie. Enjoyed a wonderful dinner with my spouse on October 12, 2016. First time at this restaurant. The appetizer and main were exquisite. Tried the sea scallops with a fine lentil and tomato cold salad. Presentation and taste were excellent. Next I tried the Octopus main course with Parisian potatoes, rapini, and caramelized onions. Fantastic! Wine and beer specials on Wednesdays; so enjoyed a couple of glasses of the house red. Great deal. Without even requesting desert, our friendly and awesome server, Anthony, dropped off a crème brule, which was very good. The meal was finished off with espresso and a latte. The chef even shook our hands before we left, and recommended the seafood risotto for our next meal at the restaurant, which was a great touch. Overall a great experience and would return.
The dinner was reunion get-together of 24 of us from the Markham area who travelled Italy for 2 1/2 weeks in May of this year. I was aware of the restaurant, had not eaten there but had good comments from friends.Eric, the "main man" for Marca was more than helpful in putting together a moderately priced "prix fixe" menu for us, which included 3 appetizer items, main course, dessert. I canvassed a few of those attending to get an opinion on the different main courses (pastas, veal scallopini, pizza) and all were thoroughly pleased with the presentation, quantity and taste of their choices. The beef short ribs are a house specialty and highly recommended by the 10 people who ordered them. The appetizers (calamari, brushetta and antipasto) were excellent.Wine selection is limited (a positive thing) with their house wines being a great choice. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it a pleasant place to have a family dinner, a quiet couple evening or a group such as ours
